Trulia is an online residential real estate site for home buyers, sellers, renters and real estate professionals. It lists properties for sale and rent as well as neighborhood information and community insights. The company is headquartered in downtown San Francisco [1] and has offices in New York City and Denver, Colorado.[2]

History

Trulia was founded by Pete Flint and Sami Inkinen, both graduates of Stanford Graduate School of Business. The company launched nationwide in September 2006 after an initial Beta launch in September 2005 with products that included historical home price trends, home comparisons and interactive heat maps.[3] Trulia works with most major brokerages, franchisors, agents and MLSs in the US to display a comprehensive list of properties for sale and for rent and supplements the experience with data and maps of local schools, crime and commute information.

Since 2005, Trulia has raised approximately $33M in funding from investors including Accel Partners, Sequoia Capital, Fayez Sarofim & Co and Deep Fork Capital.[4]

There were rumors in December 2009 that Google was in talks to buy Trulia. While the asking price was not known, sources guessed around $150–$250M.[4]

In a 2012 review, Trulia reported 22 million monthly unique visitors.

In July 2012, Trulia filed for an initial public offering and stated they would trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "TRLA."
