== This reads like an ad for both schools ==

I am an alum of one of the schools. This reads like an ad for both, appealing to nerdy high school seniors by distracting them with trifles to hide high rates of binge drinking, suicide, etc. MIT has done hacks for a long time, but this "rivalry" is only recent (there is a much longer history of hacks against Harvard). Is there some kind of sock puppetry / astroturfing going on here by the advertising wings of either or both schools?

I am an alum of one of the schools. This reads like an ad for both, appealing to nerdy high school seniors by distracting them with trifles to hide high rates of binge drinking, suicide, etc. MIT has done hacks for a long time, but this "rivalry" is only recent (there is a much longer history of hacks against Harvard). Is there some kind of sock puppetry / astroturfing going on here by the advertising wings of either or both schools?
