Test scores

Wikiquette:3/3

Templates:I need to get some help to set this one up better, so I'll need you to retake in a few days, hint: you will need to use template wiki-markup, not just retype the question ^_^

I did use wiki-markup – it's just showing up what the result is. Should I have surrounded my answer with code and nowiki? –– Anonymouse321 (talkcontribs) 20:19, 11 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism:6.75/7 I Liked your answers, but I marked down Question 5 because, although that is your view and some other's, I just wanted to emphasize that it can be seen that that practice could be used to hide/try to evade further punishment/administrative action.

So far so good! LibertarianSupport 20:12, 11 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I'm trying my best. By the way, do you prefer talkback or watchlist? –– Anonymouse321 (talkcontribs) 20:19, 11 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I check my watchlist everytime I sign on, so I think that that would be easier for you too. Whichever works though. I'm fairly laidback. Keep up the good work :DLibertarianSupport 20:46, 11 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Corrections to articles

Thanks for your reply to my question. I am not really interested in re-writing an article, but in getting the correct information out to readers of the article. The error in the article on "Custos Brevium" is fully referenced to the Oxford National Dictionary of Biography, but the information in that source is wrong (I have sent them an email on the error.)according to 17th Century sources. I looked at the pages on editing articles and would rather not get involved. I would just like to get the correct information to somebody who could remove the incorrect information and make the correction--for me,a one time only proposition. 131.191.20.199 (talk) 06:55, 13 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, so the source is wrong. I misunderstood. If you show us the exact correction we can make it. –– Anonymouse321 (talkcontribs) 12:53, 13 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Custos Brevium article at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Custos_Brevium says a William Davison was Custos Brevium of the King’s Bench from 19 January 1579 – 21 December 1608 based on the online Oxford National Dictionary of Biography (ONDB) statement:

“On 19 January 1579 he was appointed clerk of the treasury and custos brevium (keeper of the writs) of the court of king's bench for life.” He died in 1608, but it appears he may have held the position for a short period.

According to Google Book Life of William Davison: Secretary of State and Privy Counsellor to Queen ... By Sir Nicholas Harris Nicolas page 222 “Queen Elizabeth, by letters patent 19th January, 21 Eliz. granted to William Davison, Esquire, the office of Custos Brevium of the King's Bench, habendum after the death of one Richard Payne, then Clerk of the same office. The King's Majesty, after the death of the said Richard Payne, by his letters patent 25 July, 5 Jac. confirmed and ratified the Queen's grant, and further (at the humble petition of the said William Davison) granted the reversion of the said of- * Lansdown MSS. 91. p. 56. fice unto George Byng, of Wrotham in Kent, and Henry Byng, of Gray's Inn, whose names he used, in trust for the benefit of him and his children, and payment of his debts, the greatest part whereof was such debts as were owing to them. William Davison dieth, and (by his will in writing reciteth the said trust) willeth the said George Byng and Henry Byng, or one of them, to exercise his said office until his debts and daughters' portions be paid; and after such payment, or security put in for that purpose, to assign over the said office, with the execution thereof, to Christopher Davison, second son of the said William Davison. After the death of the said William Davison, George Byng and Henry Byng, by virtue of the letters patent, were sworn in and admitted.”

When Christopher came of age he tried to raise money to pay his father’s debts and secure the Custos Brevium (a very lucrative position). The above further says, “(unless it be by Act of Parliament confirmed unto him) he cannot sufficiently secure, for that it is litigious whether the office be in the King's gift or the Lord Chief Justice's."And the said office hath in like sort been heretofore confirmed to one John Payne, by Act of Parliament, 33 Hen. VIII."

Based on the above and other sources, this is what I know about the office of Custos Brevium of the King’s Bench:

Here is the reference to John Payne's appointment by the House of Lord's: House of Lords Journal Volume 1 - 10 May 1543 ... Hodie 1 a , 2 a , et 3 a vice lecta est Billa for the Assurance of the Office of Custos Brevium, in the King's Bench, to John Payne, during his Life. ... Journal of the House of Lords: volume 1 (1767-1830)

John Payne of Palenwicke was the uncle of Richard Payne named above. John died 26 Apr 1573. I assume this is when Richard Payne became Custos Brevium, but have seen no official record of it. Richard Payne did not die until 27 Dec 1606 (at age 95). So it is possible William Davison did assume the position at that time. According to a previous edition of the ONDB, “25 July 1607 James I generously (Yes, William had a key role in the beheading of James’ mother, Mary, Queen of Scots.) agreed to grant these offices on his death to George Byng of Wrotham Kent and Henry Byng of Gray's Inn on trust the profits to be applied to the payment of his debts.” William Davison died 21 Dec 1608.

Custos Brevium of the King’s Bench (according to the above information)

John Payne 1543 to 26 Apr 1573 Richard Payne  ? to 27 Dec 1606 William Davison  ? to 21 Dec 1608 George Byng and Henry Byng After 21 Dec 1608 to ?

I am primarily interested in Payne genealogy. I believe John Payne is one of my ancestors which is why I am trying to set the record straight so I would appreciate if changes could be made in the Custos Brevium listing.131.191.20.199 (talk) 18:30, 13 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the detailed info... I'll see what I can do. –– Anonymouse321 (talkcontribs) 19:05, 13 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I tried my best to improve the information on article Custos Brevium. If you think it needs to be improved, just ask. –– Anonymouse321 (talkcontribs) 04:22, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I just checked the article. Looks good to me. Many thanks for your quick assistance.131.191.20.199 (talk) 21:26, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

re your comments to John J. Ensminger page

I cannot find any conflict of interest on John J. Ensminger's page nor can I find any reason for the comment about Autobiography. If you could be specific then I will attempt to fix the problem. Thanks in advance King.parker3King.parker3 (talk) 21:28, 13 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure this message is intended for me? I don't think I made any comment about conflict of interest or autobiography. All I did was discuss your link issues at the Teahouse. –– Anonymouse321 (talkcontribs) 21:49, 13 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Comments on proposed JMA TDs

Hello, The Anonymouse, greetings from Hong Kong, China. There's an ongoing discussion, on whether or not JMA TDs at Tropical Depression intensity should be kept out of the "Other storms section"

Please comment. Sincerely,

Note: You received this message because you have contributed to tropical cyclone related articles and I thought you may be interested.

Adding a Requested Article

No, I meant more like board games. It doesn't really matter anymore because the name of the game is Create it, but they have an article about it under the name Lego Creator. I put in a request for it to be redirected, but that was a couple hours ago, and it's not been accepted or rejected, so I don't know what to think. B. Jakob T. hello

Thank you for your welcome message. I really want to help Wikipedia so made an account. I think you must have noticed me on the help desk where you posted on the section above me. I even found how to make a signature already! Lord Sugar you're fired 16:31, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

collapsible

hello there! just saw you have quite a bit of experience with user pages, and was wondering if you're good with collapsible lists? Let me know. Cheers FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 20:37, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I have some experience, but I don't use them very often.
The easiest way to use them is by using templates. The {{Template:Collapse top}} template makes up the top of the collapsible list, and {{Template:Collapse bottom}} marks the bottom.
For example, this code...
{{Collapse top|Title goes here}}
Collapsible stuff goes here.
{{Collapse bottom}}
... produces this...
Title goes here

Collapsible stuff goes here.

There are many different styles, and please refer to this section of the template page for more information.
If you have any further questions, feel free to ask them here on my talk page. –– Anonymouse321 (talkcontribs) 20:47, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much! My question has a second part though: how do i mesh columns into a collapsible list? FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 20:49, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but what do you mean? Could you please give an example? –– Anonymouse321 (talkcontribs) 21:02, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I'm trying to create a collapsible list for my created articles on my user page. basically i want a list for each of the sections. i tried to do it last week but it got too complicated with all the columns involved, and so i resorted to ask someone about it :) FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 21:10, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Something like this?
Section 1

Stuff 1

Section 2

Stuff 2

Section 3

Stuff 3

–– Anonymouse321 (talkcontribs) 21:27, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much! i had a go. would you mind having a look and telling me what you think? is there a way to have it centred or aligned? FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 21:47, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I forgot to mention – you might want to vertically align the collapsible lists to the top instead of the center. Compare the previous example with this one:
{|
|- valign="top"
| {{Collapse top|Section 1}}
Stuff 1
{{Collapse bottom}}
|| {{Collapse top|Section 2}}
Stuff 2
{{Collapse bottom}}
|| {{Collapse top|Section 3}}
Stuff 3
{{Collapse bottom}}
|}
Section 1

Stuff 1

Section 2

Stuff 2

Section 3

Stuff 3

Please note the valign="top" part.

Help with info for iOS article

Hi Anonymouse, I've recently presented some new information to add to Apple articles and am having trouble finding an editor to help me make the edits. I noticed your user name in the iOS page history and wanted to ask if you could give me a hand. The reason I'm asking for help from another editor to make the edits is that I have a conflict of interest: the reference for the info I've suggested is a book written by the founder of the company where I work, and I'm here on the company's behalf.

I got a positive response to one of the new pieces of info I presented on the iOS page— the market share for iOS — but the editor who replied didn't add it. Because of my conflict of interest, I don't want to make this edit myself. Can you help? Thanks, --Rkrueger (talk) 17:06, 24 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, I'll see what I can do... –– Anonymouse321 (talkcontribs) 17:08, 24 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
 Half done I've added #1 to the end of the history section, slightly reworded (As of late 2011 → By late 2011). –– Anonymouse321 (talkcontribs) 17:22, 24 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
