He was the titular ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore from 1734 to 1766. His reign was dominated by his dalwais (a role similar to seneschal or commander-in-chief), including Devaraja Girachuri, who also served as regent until Krishna attained majority, and Hyder Ali, who came to be considered the de facto ruler of Mysore from 1761 until his death in 1782. Krishna Raja Wadiyar II died in April 1766
