Mina Indira Adampour (born 1987) is a Norwegian-Iranian journalist, politician, writer and activist. She is the leader of the Norwegian branch of Youth Against Racism.
Early life and education
Born to a family with Iranian background, Adampour attended Foss Upper Secondary School in Oslo.[1] Having lived in both Bodø and Oslo, she was employed as a personal assistant for a time.[2] She currently studies both Medicine and Law at the University of Oslo.[3]
Career
Adampour was involved in left-wing politics from an early age. At age-sixteen she organized a large anti-war demonstration outside the US Embassy in 2003. Adampour was since active in the Trotskyist organization International Socialists engaging in anti-war activities. She was also active in the revolutionary socialist party Red Electoral Alliance, and ran their candidate in the 2007 local elections.[4] After the 2011 local elections she represented the new communist party Red and gained a seat in the borough of Grünerløkka.[5]
She has written extensively and is a regular contributor to left-wing magazines such as Ny Tid and Utrop. She has been an outspoken critic of the Norwegian government's immigration policy,[6] as well as its treatment of immigrants.[7]
Adampour received national attention when Queen Sonja of Norway as well as Crown Princess Mette-Marit visited the family home for dinner. Her family received even greater attention when they invited politician Carl I. Hagen for dinner.[8]
