Dont remove content without explaining anything (1) especially if it's cited by a source and has been discussed at the article's talk page. Dan56 (talk) 09:08, 26 September 2012 (UTC) |

: Removal of the other credits didnt make sense, but I addressed the other change you introduced at the talk page. Please dont restore your changes first, as it's getting tiring to revert IPs and others for the actual disruptive editing going on outside of this. Dan56 (talk) 09:14, 26 September 2012 (UTC) |

:: (Sigh) Tired of this reverting. Per Wikipedia:WikiProject_Albums/Album_article_style_guide#Personnel, "report musical and technical personnel who had some direct involvement in the creation of the recording or artwork itself. This can include performers, composers, photographers and graphic artists, painters and illustrators, liner note authors, engineers, producers, audio mixing and mastering specialists, and more." Dan56 (talk) 10:41, 26 September 2012 (UTC) |
|||
::: Appreciate the response. The article's talk page is usually the best forum for discussing changes though. Per the style guide, I'll remove the "composer" credits. But since Green Day produced the album in part, they would be part of the technical staff, right? Dan56 (talk) 10:45, 26 September 2012 (UTC) |

:::: The lead should summarize the most important aspects of the article's body, and surely the release date and labe are some of them. See Wikipedia:WikiProject_Albums/Album_article_style_guide#Lead. Dan56 (talk) 11:39, 26 September 2012 (UTC) |

: You're not being constructive. Bring up your changes at the talk page and stop pushing your preferences by reverting me. Dan56 (talk) 11:56, 26 September 2012 (UTC) |
|||
::: With respect to your comment of leaving it for now, the current revision should be left for now, for both our sakes. This has developed into a content dispute, and we both seem to have three reverts with the recent changes (WP:3RR). And yes, readding something I removed is reverting, whether you pressed the revert button or not. Dan56 (talk) 12:14, 26 September 2012 (UTC) |
|||
::::: Did you read the talk page, where I addressed that in the last paragraph? Here: Like the infobox, only the earliest release date being noted makes sense, and more specific release history should be elsewhere in the article (Template:Infobox album#Released): "Only the earliest known date that the album was released should be specified; later release dates (incl. re-issues) can be mentioned in a Release history section." It's too minor of an aspect to be in the lead. Dan56 (talk) 12:20, 26 September 2012 (UTC) |
|||
:::::: The infobox guideline is just a reference to the fact that that kind of information should be in the body of the article rather than the lead. Like the lead, the infobox is a summary reflecting the rest of the article, which is usually why infoboxes lack citations. Dan56 (talk) 12:25, 26 September 2012 (UTC) |
|||
: Instead of making changes based on what feels or looks, please review some of the guidelines that were in your "welcome" template at the top of your talk page, especially WP:MOS. This change removed a necessary comma; per Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Dates_and_numbers#Dates, "When a date in mdy format appears in the middle of text, include a comma after the year". BTW, you did revert (Help:Reverting: "undoing the effects of one or more edits"), as my addition of the comma was undone. I know what I'm doing and there was a reason for me revising the sentence so that it has a comma after the date format and the diction with "by". Discographies
Hi again. Noticed this edit & thought I'd let you know: That generally only applies if there's a separate discography article for the artist in question. Like we have the separate article Ramones discography, so at Ramones#Discography we use a Main link to point to the separate article and list only the studio albums in the band article. We call that summary style. Since there's no Jason Newsted discography article, it's OK to list live albums, EPs, etc. at Jason Newsted#Discography because nowhere else is there a complete list of his recorded work.
I'll take a crack at those Rancid articles tomorrow, by the way. --IllaZilla (talk) 05:43, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
Side note: sometimes you can use the summary style for an individual musician even if they don't have a separate discography article. Like at Lars Ulrich#Discography that works because he plays on every Metallica release. For Newsted, though, it makes more sense to list all the stuff he played on because he only plays on a portion of Metallica's discography. --IllaZilla (talk) 05:50, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
Oh okay, I did not know that, sorry, I'll re-add the live albums, extened plays, ect. that he played on. Okay, thanks for helping me out. :) --Blaguymonkey (talk) 08:27, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

Black Flag
Hi, noticed your moves of a couple of Black Flag articles & moved them back. Thought you'd want to know why. Nervous Breakdown, Jealous Again, Six Pack, TV Party, The Process of Weeding Out, and I Can See You are classified by most sources as EPs, and that's how they were always described by the band and label. "Louie Louie" is the only true single in the band's catalog, as it's just 1 song per side. "Annihilate This Week" varies in its classification: The argument for it being a single is that all 3 tracks are from Who's Got the 10½?, but they're only on the CD reissue; They were left off the original LP & cassette releases due to length, & so were released as a stand-alone...similar to what happened with I Can See You and In My Head. So I would classify it as an EP, and some of the sources do as well. I know this can be confusing, but take it from someone who's read multiple books about Black Flag: Spray Paint the Walls: The Story of Black Flag by Stevie Chick, American Hardcore: A Tribal History by Steven Blush, and Our Band Could Be Your Life by Michael Azerrad all back me up on this: Six Pack and TV Party are EPs, not singles. --IllaZilla (talk) 07:19, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
List of best-selling music artists
At the list of best selling music artists we rely on certified sales more than sales figures claimed by sources. See the percentage requirements for certified sales posted at the top of Talk:List of best-selling music artists. Also, see this archived discussion on ABBA. ABBA have begun appearing on the charts before 1975; therefore, they must have their claimed figure covered by 15% certified sales. They don't have enough certified sales to be listed with 370 million. Regards.--Harout72 (talk) 16:22, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
- We no longer list artists with what sources simply claim, we look at whether artists have enough certified sales to support such figures. This resolution was done to avoid filling the list with inflated sales figures. While the record companies always claim illogical sales figures for their artists, at the end of the day, the certified sales will help you know where the actual sales really stand.--Harout72 (talk) 06:05, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
- Well, it is relatively a new policy, about a year old. So far it's been helping us to keep the list in order.--Harout72 (talk) 16:14, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
- Since we have so many artists on the list, it took some time to go over each one. While I personally removed numerous artists from the list due to our new policy, slightly inflated sales figures which also needed removal were brought to my attention later. ABBA isn't the only band/artist who's gone though this months later after the policy was amended, Roxette (see this discussion), Kylie Minogue (see this discussion), Iron Maiden (see this discussion) had figures that didn't meet the required percentage. Others; however, were simply removed months later including Jean Michel Jarre (see this), Deep Purple (see this). There were others too, you'd just have to go through the archived discussions. I hope this clears things up a bit.--Harout72 (talk) 16:25, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

Billie Joe Armstrong The Boo
Hi! you have reverted the last edition done on BJ Armstrong's page asking who the hell the boo are. Requests for comment/Uncivil
Hello Blaguymonkey. On 17 March 2011 you left a message on a Talk page asking a User to behave in a more civil manner. See your diff
Unfortunately, that User has not taken adequate notice of your advice, and has continued to taunt others, including newbies, with uncivil comments. For example, see this recent diff.
In recent times there have been more messages on this User's Talk page, and a couple of approaches to Wikiquette Assistance, and finally Wikipedia:Requests for comment/DocKino. In this RfC, you are mentioned by name, and your message from 17 March 2011 is among those cited as evidence of other Users having tried unsuccessfully to influence this User's behaviour. If you agree, you are entitled to endorse the RfC as a User who has tried to solve the problem. Regards. Dolphin (t) 02:04, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
