Urun Islampur (or Islampur for short) is a city and a municipal council in Sangli district in the Indian state of Maharashtra.
Demographics
As of 2001[update] India census,[1] Urun Islampur had a population of 58,330. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Urun Islampur has an average literacy rate of 75%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 80%, and female literacy is 69%. In Urun Islampur, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.

The city has major MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Center) area and it has been developing at a higher rate. The pivotal industries include the Great Rajarambapu Group of Textile Industries & Deendayal Cooperative Spinning Mill. The other major industries are Rajarambapu Doodh Sangh, Rajarambapu Solvex, Rajaram Sugar Factory,Rajarambapu Institute of James and Jewelry, Hutatma sugar, sarvodaya sugar, etc. accompanied by many small scale industries. Now Bombay rayon started their new textile plant near islampur which having capacity of 6000 employment & 600 crore investment.Mr.Sambhaji Shivaji Babar is the youth icon of the city.Kiran Ghodake,Manoj Patil,Shailendra Shirase(Patl),Devendra Salunkhe-Patil are the socialist and are engaged with social activities.
