Simona Caparrini is an Italian actress, born in Florence. She is fluent in English and French and speaks Spanish. She has recently completed the feature film To Rome with Love, directed by movie legend Woody Allen,^[1]^[2] where she plays Aunt Joan, the funny yet stern member of the roman high society opposite Penelope Cruz, and "Romeo and Juliet" directed by Carlo Carlei, starring Paul Giamatti, Daniel Lewis etc.

Earlier career

Simona made her debut as an actress in 1990, in the feature film Muro di Gomma, directed by Marco Risi, followed by the short Le Belle prove (1992) directed by Gianni Zanasi, which eventually opened the feature film Nella Mischia (1995); she worked in a German TV series: Ein Haus in der Toskana (1993), directed by Gabi Kubach; in the feature film Nestore l'ultima corsa (1994), where she plays Wilma directed by Italian household name Alberto Sordi; she had an uncredited role in the Oscar-winning film The Postman (1994) directed by Michael Radford; in the feature film Banditi (1995), starring Ben Gazzara, directed by Stefano Mignucci; and starred in the feature film Il cielo e' sempre piu' blu' (1996) directed by Antonello Grimaldi.

She played different roles in many Italian and French TV series: "Un posto al sole" (1996), directed by Cristiano Celeste; "Linda e il brigadiere" (1997) directed by Gianfranco Lanzotti; "Compañeros" (1998), directed by Tiziana Aristarco; "Un prete tra noi" (1999), directed by Ludovico Gasparini; in the French TV series "Marie Fransson" (2000), directed by Christiane Spiero; in "Casa Famiglia" (2000), directed by Riccardo Donna; "Compagni di scuola" (2001), directed by Tiziana Aristarco; Orgoglio (2004), where she pulled off a very dramatic role portraying Elvira Graziani, directed by Giorgio Serafini; "Ho sposato un calciatore" (2005) directed by Stefano Solima; "Don Matteo (2006), directed by Elisabetta Marchetti; "Capri" (2006), directed by Giorgio Molteni; the comedy Doctor Clown (2008), directed by Maurizio Nichetti; the dramatic tv series Il Mostro di Firenze (2009), based on a true story, where she plays Romana Stefanacci, directed by Antonello Grimaldi; "Io e mio figlio- Nuove storie per il commissario Vivaldi" (2010), tv series directed by Luciano Odorisio, starring Lando Buzzanca; The Postman (2011), directed by Vittorio Sindoni; ;;Una Buona stagione (2012), directed by Gianni Lepre, etc.

Simona has continued to work in many feature films, starring in: Io Amo Andrea (2000), where she plays Irene opposite Francesca Neri, directed by Francesco Nuti; Suor Sorriso, remake of the famous film The Singing Nun, where she plays Clara (co-leading role), directed by the american director Roger Deutsch; the period piece Il Quaderno della spesa (2003), directed by Tonino Cervi; the comedy Andata e Ritorno (2003), directed by Alessandro Paci; Nessun messaggio in segreteria (2005), directed by Luca Miniero and Paolo Genovese, where she plays a funny concierge opposite Carlo delle Piane and Pierfrancesco Favino; the French sci-fi 8th Wonderland (2008), directed by Nicholas Alberny and Jean Mach; the box office hit Immaturi (2010), directed by Paolo Genovese, where she plays Katia, a stubborn sex addict, permanently in group therapy opposite Raul Bova; Interno Giorno (2011), directed by Tommaso Rosseliini, where she playes Martina the movie star's talent agent, opposite Fanny Ardant; etc.

Simona Caparrini gained more fame in 2012, in Italy and abroad, when she was chosen by Woody Allen to play Aunt Joan in his feature film To Rome with Love, which had a worldwide release gaining more that 70 millions dollars, and becoming the best second box office result for Woody Allen.

In 2013 will be released the feature film Romeo and Juliet, directed by Carlo Carlei, where Simona plays a cameo role, as a noble woman friend of the Capulets. The film has a prestigious cast: Paul Giamatti, Daniel Lewis, Natascha McElhone, Hailee Steinfeld, Douglas Booth, etc.

Simona has just finished shooting the Italian feature film "Per fortuna che ci sei" directed by Alessio Maria Federici.
