Wikipedia:IRC/Cloaks

This is the place to make a quick trivial edit and confirm that you are, in fact, who you claim to be on IRC, for cloak setup purposes.

Achtung!

You must have done the following things before you can be given an IRC cloak. Freenode staff will not authorize a cloak if these instructions are not followed.

• Registered your primary IRC nick. (This is also called the "master nick" and should be the one you plan to use most often.)
• Registered a second nick, and linked it to the main nick using the "link" command.
• Set an email address for your nick. (You may choose to hide this from public view for security.)
• Speak to an authorized Wikipedia Group Contact! (Do this before signing this page.) The group contact will confirm the above, and direct you to the appropriate page to sign. See below for the list of authorized Group Contacts who are currently handling requests.

Also note

• You must speak with an authorized group contact before requesting a cloak. See the list of currently-active contacts below. Simply listing your request here is not sufficient.
• You must be a logged-in user on the Wikimedia project where you are requesting a cloak.
  • Users should have a few contributions. If you just want a generic Freenode cloak see the Freenode FAQ.
• You must identify with NickServ to use your cloak.
• Be sure to ask for a cloak on your primary nickname. If you ask for it on a secondary, linked nickname, it will not work.

When your cloak is installed, you will see a message to the effect:

--- NickServ has set your hostname to wikipedia/Fennec

This will occur when it is installed, and in the future when you identify with the nickname.

Processed requests

These are requests which Freenode has already processed and set user cloaks for. The main list is available at Wikipedia:Current IRC cloaks. The list below contains users who have just gotten cloaks and have not been moved to the main list yet.

The optional comment will be removed on archival.

Erroneous requests

Requests Needing Attention

Please note your username on the English Wikipedia and your primary IRC name.

If you're requesting from a project other than the English Wikipedia, please speak to a contact instead of signing here. Contacts will generally request that you confirm your identity on the project that you are requesting in your cloak, rather than here. The cloak page on Meta has more information on what project cloaks are available.

Remember: You must speak to a Wikipedia Group Contact before your cloak can be set. If you list it here, but do not message a contact on IRC, your cloak will not be set, and the request will be delisted until you speak to one!
