The Gananoque was ship of 785 tons which was launched in Quebec about 1857.[1] It made four journeys to New Zealand in the 1860s under contract of the provincial governments. It was first rigged as a clipper ship and in the 1870s was then rigged as a barque, before it sunk in the 1880s.

Trips to New Zealand
The ship was chartered by Shaw, Savill and Co. on four journeys from London to New Zealand as follows:
Leaving London on 9 February 1860, arriving Lyttelton on 9 May 1860.[2] Leaving London on 7 July 1861, arriving in Auckland on 18 October 1861.[3] Leaving London on 7 December 1862, arriving in Port Chalmers, Otago on 12 March 1863.[4] Leaving London on 16 May 1864, arriving at Port of Bluff on 5 September 1864.[5]
The first three voyages to New Zealand had a lot of government immigrants on board and the fourth journey was solely a cargo trip.
