"I Refuse"
Song
A-side"More Than a Woman"

"I Refuse" is a song by Aaliyah, which was released as a double A-side single along with "More Than a Woman" in France only. France is the only country where this song was used for radio airplay. "I Refuse", along with "More Than a Woman", were moderate hits peaking in the top 30 in France at #25. The single charted because of heavy airplay by the famous radio station Skyrock. Aaliyah was a guest on this station shortly before her death in August 2001. She sang an a cappella version of "I Refuse" on the station.

Additional information

"I Refuse" is a strong dramatic ballad where Aaliyah refuses to let her lover break her heart again and feel the pain once more. Among the writers was Steve "Static" Garrett who also provided background vocals. Sound effects are used to create the sound of thunder and rain in the beginning.
