Unitar pintar campus, Kelana Jaya

• 1997___Ministry of Education invited KUB Malaysia Berhad to set-up Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNITAR).

• 1998___Official launch by Y.A.B Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, Minister of Education.

• 1999___Received establishment letter from the Ministry of Education.

• 2000___Received approval for registration from the Ministry of Education.

• 2001___Received MSC-Status recognition.

• 2002___Received the MSC-Status from Y.A.B Dato’ Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia.

• 2003___Received ISO 9001 : 2000 Quality System Certification from SIRIM.

• 2007___UNITAR was acquired by Yayasan PINTAR from KUB Malaysia Berhad.

• 2010___Relocation of UNITAR Pintar Campus, Kelana Jaya to Leisure Commerce Square.

• 2011___The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) approved the re-naming of UNITAR Pintar Campus to University of Management and Technology (UMTECH).

• 2012___Ekuiti Nasional Berhad (Ekuinas) invested up to 90% stake in Unitar Capital Sdn. Bhd., the owner and operator of University of Management and Technology (UMTECH) together with private equity firm Shoraka Square Ltd (Shoraka) and other investors. YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, the Ministry of Higher Education approved the renaming of University of Management and Technology (UMTECH) to UNITAR International University (UNITAR).

Clubs and Societies

With almost a quarter of our students coming from over 14 countries from around the world, our campus offers a diverse and vibrant melting pot of talents, ideas and experiences. In addition, round-the-year student activities from more than 20 student clubs and societies offer you ample, opportunities in arts, culture, and sports and develop personal skills in communication and leadership, at the same time helping you to build community bonds and networks that will benefit you later in life. There are numerous clubs and societies with various types of student activities to cater to all interests at UNITAR. They include; the Student Representative Council, Welfare & Community Works, Cultural & Religious Activities, PR & Self Help Development, Recreational Activities, Academic Associations, a Martial Arts Club, Creative Arts and the International Students Representative Council.

Student Representatives Council (SRC)

The Student Representative Council (SRC) looks after the welfare of students at UNITAR. SRC organises various types of activities in promoting greater social awareness and facilitates interaction among its students. The Council also provides a means of communication between students and the administration on issues pertaining to living and study conditions. A General Election is held by UNITAR yearly to elect the representatives of this council.

Welfare & Community Works

1. KARISMA Club

The main objective of this association is to foster a spirit of volunteer work and open communication among its members. Recently the association has ventured into numerous community service activities in many states of Malaysia which include; Pahang, Sarawak, Perlis, Selangor and in Johor.

1. Borneo Student Society (BSS)

The ‘Borneo Student Society’ is open to students from Borneo (Sabah and Sarawak) as well those from the islands of West Malaysia. BSS organises and partakes extensively in activities inside and outside of the university.

1. Consumer Club

The ‘Consumer Club’ is an association that conducts activities to instill awareness among students regarding consumer issues. Their mission is to create awareness in society and among the student body of UNITAR to be more sensitive on what they consume and use every day, as well as to create awareness on their individual consumer rights.

Cultural & Religious Activities

1. Persatuan Mahasiswa Islam (PERMAI)

‘Persatuan Mahasiswa Islam’ is the only club at UNITAR that brings together all Muslim students to plan and venture into all types of activities that are in accordance to Islamic teachings. It also acts as a platform for its members to improve their understanding in Islam.

1. Persatuan Mahasiswa India (PMI)

‘Persatuan Mahasiswa India’ is an association that gathers all Indian students to organise many kinds of activities, especially those pertaining to Indian culture and heritage. Apart from this, it also encourages cultural interaction between different ethnic groups in the community.

The ‘UNITAR Chinese Student Association’ is an association that gathers all Chinese students to organise many kinds of activities, especially those pertaining to Chinese culture and heritage. Apart from this, it also encourages cultural interaction between different ethnic groups in the community.

PR & Self Help Development

1. Toastmaster Club

The ‘Toastmaster Club’ is a non-profit organisation renowned worldwide. The objective of this club is to help members become more competent and comfortable speaking in front of an audience. It offers a proven and enjoyable method to practice and hone oratory communication skills and builds leadership qualities among its members.

Recreational Activities

1. UNITAR Adventure and Recreational Club (URAC)

The ‘Adventure and Recreational Club’ welcomes active, fun loving UNITAR students to this fast growing outdoor activities group. URAC focuses on offering its members a wide variety of outdoor, cultural, sporting, travel and social events to participate in. Its mission is to provide members a wide array of fun-filled activities in a relaxed, no-pressure environment to foster social interaction among its members. Among the activities organised are jungle tracking, mountain climbing and recreational trips within Malaysia.

Academic Associations

1. UNITAR IT Association, Faculty of Information Technology

This association is a platform for IT students to exchange ideas, view, opinions and to keep up with breaking news in the field of Information Technology. It also creates an opportunity for students to approach modern IT issues and organise academic activities for students. This provides a platform which will allow the discovery of the potential talent in students and help cultivate them in the university setting as well as to prepare them for the world beyond, in the field of Information Technology.

1. HOST Club, Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management

The’ HOST Club’ is a university organization with the primary goal to provide social and educational activities for UNITAR students interested in the hospitality and tourism industries. So far, this club has organized many activities for its members which include inter-university persons or with external parties in the hospitality and tourism industries.

1. Educator’s Club, Faculty of Education and Social Sciences

The ‘Educator’s Club’ is primarily established for students pursuing a Bachelor of Education (Hons) programme at UNITAR. However, it is also open to students who are interested in the education field, even if it is not their primary focus. The club provides practical information for those who are interested to explore an education career in either the governmental, or in private institutions.

1. Early Childhood Education Club

The ‘Early Childhood Education Club’ is established primarily for students pursuing the Bachelor (Hons) Degree or Diploma level qualification in Early Childhood Education. The club provides practical information for those who are interested to explore the early childhood courses available at UNITAR.

1. Counseling Club

The ‘Counseling Club’ is established primarily for students pursuing a Bachelor in Counseling (Hons) programme. It provides practical information for those who are interested to explore the techniques and activities of the counseling area and processes.

Martial Arts Club

1. Taekwondo Club

The ‘Taekwondo Club’ provides a unique opportunity for UNITAR students to experience Taekwondo in an exciting and authentic manner. Taekwondo is the Korean art of self-defense dedicated to the achievement of physical fitness, concentration, determination and confidence. It also disciplines the mind and body of an individual.

Creative Arts

1. KEMSIS (Kelab Media Siswa)

‘Kelab Media Siswa’ is hoping to instill a positive influence on students for their ability to appreciate and understand the writing processes. It provides an opportunity of exposure to writing, editing and journalism elements to its members.

1. Shutter Club (Photography Club)

The ‘Shutter Club’ encourages its members to get out and about and shoot! As part of catering to all skill levels, it aims to educate its members on various branches of photography, and encourage those who specialise in certain areas to share their knowledge in, as well as to gain knowledge in other branches of photography.

International Students Representative Council

1. International Student Association

The ‘International Students Association’ is a forum for international students to meet each other and also for other interested students to get together and supports the needs of international students at UNITAR. So far, ISA has organized several activities for its members such as Hari Raya celebrations and Christmas.
