This state park has been erected around the [[Heavener Runestone]], an inscribed stone that may be a [[runestone]]. The stone is located on Poteau Mountain just outside the town's limits. There is much speculation as to the origin and meaning of the stone's runic carvings.

Heavener Runestone State Park is a 55-acre (220,000 m2) Oklahoma state park located in Le Flore County, Oklahoma. It is located near the city of Heavener, Oklahoma.[1]
