Gajuwaka is an important transit point on the NH-5. A large majority of buses going south of [[Visakhapatnam]] stop here. Apart from that several city buses start/end from the Gajuwaka bus depot. Easy access to railways is provided by [[Duvvada railway station]] as well as [[Visakhapatnam Junction ]]. The [[Visakhapatnam Airport]] is a 20 min bus ride away, via NH-5.
Gajuwaka is situated on NH-5. Hence all the buses leaving towards the south of city pass through Gajuwaka provided with a stop. All the city buses towards Anakapally, Kurmanapalem, and Elamanchili reach their destination through this junction.

A bus depot is located near New Gajuwaka. [[Duvvada]] railway station is the nearest railway station. vizag airport is very close to this area.

Gajuwaka is a zone in the greater Visakhapatnam municipal corporation in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. It has a population of 258,944 (2001 census) and forms part of the Visakhapatnam (Vizag) conurbation.

Etymology

The name Gajuwaka is derived from the words "Gaja" (elephant) and "Vaka" (pond).

Gajuwaka has an average literacy rate of 70%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 77%, and female literacy is 63%. In Gajuwaka, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.
