Curriculum
Our curriculum has been designed to provide a comprehensive program in basic skills development with opportunities for enrichment, diversification, and remediation contingent upon individual needs. The development of a positive self-concept is valued in meeting the many needs of the adolescent learner. Students participate in the following courses: reading; language arts; science; social science; math; computer applications and keyboarding; physical education/health; art; music; performing arts; consumer science; Spanish; enrichment programs; intervention programs; band/chorus/orchestra; structured assistance. The school differentiates instruction to meet individual student needs through the Enrichment Learning Model (ELM), Response to Intervention and special education services. This approach combines with the instructional program to help form successful learners. For more details about the approach to instruction in District 103 and goals for learning, visit http://www.d103.org/instruction.htm. Our school is implementing the New Illinois State Learning Standards Incorporating the Common Core, with the goal of better preparing Illinois students for success in college and the workforce in a competitive global economy (see Illinois State Board of Education's web page at http://www.isbe.state.il.us/common_core/default.htm). Locate more information about our implementation of the Common Core at http://www.d103.org/instruction.htm.
