Kamanahalli is a small village located in Tumkur District, Turuvekere Taluk, Mayasandra Hobli and Vittalapura Post in India's Karnataka State. The village is about 12 km from Yadiyur (famous for the Lord Siddalingeshwar Temple) and 100 km from Bangalore.
The village has a population of around 150 (around 30 families). The average literacy rate is 70% though the village has no primary school. The villagers are dependent on neighbouring villages for primary and secondary education. The nearest medical facilities are 15 km from the village.
The Lord Sri Ranganatha Swamy Temple and Lord Lakshmi named[clarification needed] by lord Sri Muttinamma temple are nearby. A festival is celebrated in March or April, generally for nine days.
The main occupation in the village is agriculture. The farmers follow innovative methods of growing coconuts, paddy[clarification needed], raagi, vegetables and many other crops. There are also some dairies. The village has a small lake near Sri Muttinamma temple, the main source of water for paddy farming. The villagers also depend on well water for drinking and agriculture.
The Shimsha River flows north to south nearby in the east, providing water for agriculture. The river is essential to the villagers.
