Sakura soon becomes too powerful for him to control and becomes "Dark Sakura", destroying various participants in the Holy Grail War. |

Sakura Matō (間桐 桜, Matō Sakura) is a character from the Japanese visual novel and anime series Fate/stay night.
A student in her first year of high school, Sakura is the sister of Shinji Matō. After Shirō's father Kiritsugu died, Sakura often visited Shirō's home to help him with his daily chores. She is outwardly shy and timid, but possesses great inner strength. Sakura has a long standing and obvious crush on Shirō Emiya.
The voice acting for Sakura is done by Noriko Shitaya.
Past
She is actually Rin Tōsaka's sister. Since mages only keep the first born child, Sakura was handed over to Zōken Matō's care. Sakura's hair color changed to purple due to mana corosion from Zōken's worms.
According the the anime adaption, both Sakura and Rin have vague memories of their seperation. Rin lamented letting her sister go, regretfully believing she had abandoned Sakura, while Sakura would end up suppressing feelings of abandonment and resent.
Abilities
In the Heaven's Feel scenario, she is able to become Dark Sakura. In this form, she is able to bring out the darker, more evil natures in the Servants' personalities.

Sakura is inactive throughout both Fate and Unlimited Blade Works.
