Yuffie Kisaragi

Template:FFVII character Yuffie Kisaragi (ユフィ・キサラギ Yufi Kisaragi) is a video game character from the PlayStation game Final Fantasy VII. She is a ninja and a thief, wielding an oversized shuriken. The manual for Final Fantasy VII states that she is 16 years old and 5'2" tall (157 cm). Yuffie also makes appearances in the CGI movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, the cellphone game Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII and the PlayStation 2 games Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII and the Kingdom Hearts series. She also appears as a hidden character in the PlayStation game Ehrgeiz. In the English versions of Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, she is voiced by Christy Carlson Romano, while she is voiced by Mae Whitman in the English version of Kingdom Hearts II. In the Japanese versions of all 3 (including Dirge of Cerberus), she is voiced by Yumi Kakazu.

Yuffie Kisaragi as she appears in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

Template:Spoiler Yuffie is one of two secret characters in Final Fantasy VII (the other being Vincent Valentine), and is a materia hunter. She can be found in any forest after leaving the cave near Fort Condor. If the player defeats her in combat and then chooses the correct series of dialogue during a conversation with her, she will join the party. An incorrect answer causes her to steal some of the party's gil and flee. Yuffie is very spirited and mischievous, and can be a smart alec at times. Though she calls herself a materia hunter, she is, in fact, a materia thief, albeit the reason behind her thieving is for a noble cause brought to effect in a misguided manner.

Yuffie wears an outfit that appears to be the traditional garb of Wutai, where she is the daughter of Wutai's ruler, Godo. She and her father disagree over the continuous trend of turning Wutai into a tourist attraction, a status it fell into after losing a war with the Shin-Ra Company. However, after proving herself by beating the bosses of Wutai's five story Pagoda (the last being her father himself), her father begins to understand the reasoning behind her position. Her tendency toward motion sickness serves as something of a running gag throughout the game, and is still present during the game's sequel, Advent Children. Yuffie also steals the party's materia on a side mission in Wutai, if the player visits Wutai before Meteor is called. While trying to get it back, Yuffie plays several tricks on them and continuously escapes. In the end, she gives the materia back after being saved from Don Corneo. Near the end of the game's Disc 1, it is possible for the player to set main character Cloud Strife up on a date with her, Aerith Gainsborough, Tifa Lockhart or Barret Wallace. During the date with Yuffie, she will kiss Cloud, leading to an awkward moment between the two.

Ehrgeiz

Yuffie is a playable character in the PlayStation version of Ehrgeiz along with Tifa, Cloud, Sephiroth, Vincent and Zack, though — like the other Final Fantasy VII characters featured in the game — she has no storyline in the game.

Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII

Yuffie appears as an NPC of Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII, a cellphone game that tells the stories of a group of Turks carrying out their missions. Wutai is one of the places the original characters would get to visit.

Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII

Yuffie appears in Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII along with the rest of AVALANCHE's second incarnation. However, her role is larger than the majority of the characters featured in the game, and along with Cid Highwind, Cait Sith and Vincent, she serves to round out the major supporting cast. During the game, she works for Reeve Tuesti's World Restoration Organization, and handles its intelligence division. She aids Vincent many times throughout the game, and also serves to provide comic relief to counter-balance Vincent's more serious character.

Kingdom Hearts series

In Kingdom Hearts, Yuffie is first seen in Traverse Town after the battle between Sora and Leon. Along with him, Cid and Aerith Gainsborough, she fights to defeat the Heartless who had destoryed their world while she was a little girl. She refers to herself as the "Great Ninja Yuffie". Yuffie also appeared in the Olympus Coliseum in an optional fight with Leon or alone.

In Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Sora met Yuffie, who was actually a projection from his memories. Like the others in Traverse Town, she was perplexed that she managed to identify him, despite the fact she had no recollection of meeting. While "Yuffie" was just as puzzled by this dilemma, but never gave much thought on this as she helped Sora much like her real-time self.

In Kingdom Hearts II, Yuffie aids Leon and the others as part of the Hollow Bastion Restoration Committee, who are concentrated on the restoration of their world. Her attire in the game reflects more on her "Advent Children" outfit. She continues to aid Sora against the Heartless. She helps Sora on the Ravine Trail, and appears in the Olympus Colloseum with the other Final Fantasy characters, Leon in particular.

Trivia

• Due to the fact that Yuffie and Vincent Valentine are optional characters, they are not featured in any FMVs, including the ending sequence. Dirge of Cerberus, however, provides a plot-related explanation for their absence on the Highwind airship during the game's ending.
• Yuffie's original outfit for Final Fantasy VII was mainly red, as opposed to green. Her alternate costume in Ehrgeiz bears this design.
• Yuffie appears in Kingdom Hearts in an outfit originally designed for Rikku. In Kingdom Hearts II, she appears in her Advent Children outfit, along with a pink ribbon on her shuriken, as featured in Dirge of Cerberus and Advent Children.
• Yuffie was the only character shown to kiss Cloud during the date minigame in Final Fantasy VII.
