Baldini Castoldi Dalai Editore[1] is an Italian publishing house, founded in 1897[2] as Baldini & Castoldi, located under the arcades of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in Milan.
Were members Ettore Baldini, Antenore Castoldi, Alceste Borella and the poet Gian Pietro Lucini. Among the first authors Fogazzaro, Gerolamo Rovetta, Neera (Anna Zuccari), Salvator Gotta and Guido da Verona.
In 1940[3] the management was renewed with the arrival of Enrico Castoldi which opened more to the presence in the catalog of foreign authors (especially Hungarian), but begin a descent of sales that took her almost to fail in the seventies year's. The publishing house, however, did not close and the historic brand was relaunched in 1991 by Alessandro Dalai[4] (then CEO of Electa and Einaudi), who made sure Oreste del Buono[5].
In May 2003[6], the company assumed the name of Baldini Castoldi Dalai Editore, then only BC Dalai Editore. In 2011 the brand changed its name to Dalai Editore and "Baldini & Castoldi" becomes a series of Dalai Editore[7]. Today, the Dalai editore is one of the most important Italian publishers.
Among the authors of the most successful Susanna Tamaro, Enrico Brizzi[8], Gino and Michele, Giorgio Faletti[9], Fabio Geda, Gianluca Arrighi, Antonio Pennacchi, Aldo Busi.
Another strong point is since 1993 the Dictionary of the film by Paolo Mereghetti counts numerous editions.
