The Caucasus Nature Fund (CNF), was started in 2008. It is a conservation trust fund established to protect the Caucasus ecoregion. The region is located at the border of Europe and Asia between the Black and Caspian seas. The ecoregion is a biodiversity hotspot with over 6,400 plant species, 348 birds, and 131 mammals. CNF's mission is to "ensure long-term funding for the region’s protected areas, improve their management practices and promote sustainable development."[2]

CNF supports 11 parks in Armenia[3], Azerbaijan and Georgia.[2] This conservation trust provides grants to protected areas (PAs) to supplement operating expenses so that they can buy equipment, prevent poaching, logging and other illegal activities, monitor species trends and ecosystem health, educate the public, promote tourism and sustainable development, and pay their staff. CNF also works to improve management practices with Protected Areas and with local experts and NGOs to monitor programs and ensure accountability.

CNF is based in Paris, France and has offices in Yerevan, Armenia and Tbilisi, Georgia.[4]

Notable board member

A notable advisory board member is Gabriela Von Habsburg , the grand daughter of Charles I, last emperor of Austria.
