History of video games |

The eighth generation era will be a video game era in the history of computer and video games that has yet to take place. It is expected that the Sony Playstation 4 and Nintendo's next console will be counted to this era. Microsoft has not released any information about a successor to the Xbox 360. There are, however, rumors of an Xbox 1080, name based off of skateboard/snowboard stunts (360 is all the way around and 1080 is three times around.)
Nintendo has confirmed that their system of this generation, the successor to the Wii, will be HD compatible.
