VHA Inc., based in Irving, Texas, is a corporation that serves more than 1,350 not-for-profit hospitals and 24,000+ non-acute care facilities in 47 states and the District of Columbia. Founded in 1977, VHA provides supply chain management services and promotes and supports the formation of regional member networks that allow health care organizations to collaborate. VHA and UHC own a supply contracting company called Novation. VHA also owns Provista, another group purchasing organization.

VHA changed its name in 1994, adopting the initials of its former name ("Voluntary Hospitals of America"). VHA is a registered trademark. VHA changed its name to move beyond the outdated and often-misunderstood concepts of "voluntary" and "hospitals," while retaining its name recognition. VHA is a nationwide network of leading community-owned health care organizations and physicians. VHA is not associated or affiliated in any way with the Veterans Health Administration of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or Variable Housing Allowances.
