Six60 is a New Zealand rock band formed in 2006. Their self-titled debut album was released on 10 October 2011 on their own label Massive Entertainment. The album debuted at No.1 in the New Zealand charts and was certified Gold in its first week.[citation needed] Their first two singles "Rise Up 2.0" and "Don't Forget Your Roots" reached number one and number two respectively on the RIANZ singles chart and both were certified Platinum.[1]
Their music is a blend of soul, rock, dubstep and drum and bass.
History
Six60 began life as Dunedin students playing music together in their flat, which later developed into playing concerts for friends and family, flat-warmings, parties and eventually local bars. They are known for becoming popular underground due to word of mouth.
Their local following developed from Dunedin to other student hubs around the country such as Auckland, Waikato and Manawatu. They began their first country-wide tour in April 2010.
Six60's original EP contained track's such as 'Freedom' and 'Someone to be around.' These tracks were left off their debut album but remain remain some of the groups most popular tracks to date as per the views on Six60's YouTube channel.
Six60 have had two double platinum selling singles "Rise Up 2.0" and "Don't Forget Your Roots", one platinum selling single "Only To Be", and a triple platinum Number One debut album.
They have toured New Zealand for several years, including performances at summer festivals such as La De Da, Rhythm and Vines, Splore, Homegrown and Big Day Out.
