Charleta Tavares is a Democratic member of the Ohio Senate, representing the 15th District since 2011. Formerly, she served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1993 to 1998.
Life and career
Prior to her election to the Senate Tavares served in the Ohio House of Representatives, as Chief of Children's Protection Services,[1] and as a city council member in Columbus, Ohio. She ran unsuccessfully for Ohio Secretary of State in 1998 and for Lieutenant Governor of Ohio in 2002.[2]
