Daniel Wright Junior High School is part of Lincolnshire-Prairie View School District 103, an elementary district located in Lincolnshire, Illinois of Lake County, Illinois, USA, a suburban community of Chicago. It serves approximately 800 students in grades five through eight from the communities of Lincolnshire and Prairie View and portions of Buffalo Grove, Vernon Hills, Mettawa, Riverwoods and Lake Forest and was opened in 1971. Students from the school later attend Adlai E. Stevenson High School within Lincolnshire as well.

Schedule

Students in grade five at Daniel Wright follow an elementary school schedule with students attending class with one teacher for the majority of the day, then going to "Creative Arts" with specialty teachers. Key activities during the fifth grade include things that they do are team buildingat Camp Henry Horner, Colonial Days, and Fraction Cafe. In sixth grade, students work through a modified middle school schedule and see different teachers for their core subjects. Students in the 6th grade attend Outdoor Education, a three day experience to build morale and extend the education of students beyond the classroom. During eighth grade at Daniel Wright, students work with teachers toward transitioning to high school and attend a trip to Springfield, IL to culminate their study of U.S. and Illinois history.

  • National Physical Activity & Fitness Demonstration Center — Daniel Wright is the first junior high school in Illinois to be named a Physical Activity and Fitness Demonstration Center by the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.
