Tamarrod (Rebel) movement/campaign ( حركة تمرد ) is a grassroots movement to register opposition to President Mohamed Morsi of Egypt and force him to call for early presidential elections by targeting to collect 15 million signatures and online registration by 30 June (the date he was sworn).

Tamarrod movement started on Friday, April 26, 2013 from Cairo's Tahrir / Tahrir Square by a group of young revolutionaries who do not belong to any political movements or parties. The movement announced it has collected 200,000 signatures in the first week calling for Morsi to step down = ' http://www.el-balad.com/477680 '/>

Noteworthy that Tamarrod had been preceded in this approach by other movements, such as the (Mostamerrun - مستمرون) movement, founded by Muhammad Abu Hamid former member of the Egyptian dissolved parliament but did not spread remarkable levels of involvement and awareness in the street before Tamarrod. Some attributes this to the conditions that became favorable on the street in Egypt by the time Tamarrod was launched.

In a news conference on 12 May 2013, Tamarrod founders announced collecting more than 2 million signatures through the efforts of its volunteers in the streets over a time of almost 2 weeks. http://shorouknews.com/news/view.aspx?cdate=12052013&id=1d43e884-f68a-45a4-87b9-8584d3c6db3c.

The news that the number of applications exceeded 2 million in two weeks helped Tamarrod to spread among Egyptian popular opposition circles.

Tamarrod campaign showed an unprecedented increasing popularity among a nonpartisan initiative to the extent it quickly grabbed the attention of majority of Egyptian opposition and some of the islamic political opposition forces joined Tamarrod as well. Among the political forces that announced support for Tamarod is Kefaya Movement / حركة كفاية , The National Salvation Front , National Association for Change and 6th of April Movement . The Egyptian Bar Association declared openning the headquarters for citizens nationwide to receive the signed forms.
