::: Thanks Cuchullain. I know it seems small but this will make a huge difference in the way people understand the magic hat brand. You would be surprised how often this kind of wording can easily be confused and misquoted. Thanks Again. [[User:Lbparker40|Lbparker40]] ([[User talk:Lbparker40|talk]]) 18:49, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

There isn't a lack of content! It tells you who, where, and what. Add to it, but don't delete it. There should be atleast a stub for magic hat, which is a pretty major brewery in new england.

  • Amen to that. It's one of my favorites, also. – ClockworkSoul 02:23, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)
  • Among things that should be mentioned are the bottle-cap "poems," the history of the brewery, their website/safe sex website, and general reviews of the beer.

  • Magic Hat was featured in a documentary called American Beer with some additional background information about the brewery and how it got started.

Magic Hat, mmmmmm!

  • Magic Hat also refers to a way of collecting donations for communal events, esp. communcal food at festivals etc. Someone needs to set this definition up.

    • Indeed, this last point is correct. I see a mention of the "magic hat" in the page on the Rainbow Family. I'm not certain how to create a disambiguation yet, so, can a more experienced editor do this? Otherwise, that Rainbow Family referral to the Magic Hat sends the reader to this brewery rather than a "pass the hat" practice that is in place yearly at Rainbow Family Gatherings, which being attended by an estimate of anywhere up to 20,000 people every July 1-7 should surely have interested people looking for information here in the Wikipedia! --leahtwosaints (talk) 18:01, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

style and content

let's be sure to remember that Wikipedia is an Encyclopedia not a resource of random facts. Articles should Not read like advertisements. Magic Hat is a great brewery I'm quite happy it has made its way to the mid west... I remember when I could only buy it in Vermont. Needless to say it deserves a good article, full of accurate and cited information; not rambling tales on Great Intestinal fortitude and mental fermentation. Would you see something like that in Britannica? Including too much info like that and the article runs the risk of being proposed for deletion. Let's keep the article factual and accurate. And PLEASE use headings and sign your posts!!! Naufana : talk 02:17, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Exquisite detail

The article has too much detail. See Miller Brewing Company for the proper level. Needs to be rewitten, summarized or replaced. Student7 (talk) 15:22, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request on 22 May 2013

Please change: "Magic Hat Brewing Company is corporate-owned Costa Rican brewery based in San Jose, Costa Rica. It began production in 1994 in Burlington, Vermont, and moved to its current location in 2012[2]." to "Magic Hat Brewing Company is an American craft brewery in South Burlington, Vermont. It began production in 1994 in Burlington, Vermont, and moved to its current location at 5 Bartlett Bay Road in South Burlington, Vermont in 1997."

Please change: Location in right-hand column from "San Jose, Costa Rica" to "South Burlington, Vermont."

Reasoning: The current statements are factually untrue and have been edited without verification. The changes requested reflect the true and actual location of Magic Hat. Jtrack52 (talk) 13:33, 22 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I restored the previous version. It is probably worth getting into the parent company briefly, however.--Cúchullain t/c 14:39, 22 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I also think the article is misleading people. The Brewery is in the US but Magic Hat is a Costa Rican brand clearly stated in the Reuters article linked in the article http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/10/26/us-nab-costarica-idUSBRE89P0UQ20121026 . There needs to be a change made to reflect that. I am unsure what your doing Cúchullain but I intend to make the necessary changes and bring this to moderator attention if necessary Lbparker40 (talk) 17:06, 22 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The addition wasn't an improvement. The current version also makes clear that the brewery is now owned by Florida Ice & Farm of Costa Rica. Both the lead section and the article body indicate this. However, as you say, the brewery itself is in Vermont.--Cúchullain t/c 18:10, 22 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The first line says an American Brewery the wording now reflects a less direct way to summarize the article and forces the reader to dig through the paragraph to get the actual picture. The point of the summary IMHO is to leave the reader with a quick and polished picture in the fewest words possible. As was said on your talk page just because the manufacturer is in the US does not make the Brewery American. The beer is made in America but the brewery itself is Costa Rican. If you intend to make a separate page for the beer than your edits make sense, otherwise I believe it to be misleading.Lbparker40 (talk) 18:35, 22 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"is a brewery in South Burlington, Vermont. " This is the correct wording. There is no need to make a claim that the brewery is American... I have read this article many times and until today thought this brand was American. Thanks you for working with me on this.Lbparker40 (talk) 18:43, 22 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

(edit conflict)I removed the word "American" as that seems to be what you're hung up on. Regardless of where the owner is, the brewery itself is still in Vermont. The second sentence already says pretty clearly that it's owned by the Costa Rican company.--Cúchullain t/c 18:46, 22 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
