Taijo Teniste (born 31 January 1988 in Tartu) is an Estonian professional footballer, who plays in Tippeligaen for Sogndal Fotball. He plays in the position of midfielder primarily, on the left side, and is 1.74 m tall and weighs 63 kg. He is also a member of the Estonia national football team.

Club career

Levadia

Teniste joined FC Levadia Tallinn in 2005 from SK 10 Premium Tartu, alongside twin-brothers Eino and Sander Puri.[2] In January 2011, he was on trial at Gambrinus liga side SK Dynamo České Budějovice.[3] On 4 July 2011, Teniste joined English League Two side Swindon Town F.C. at their pre-season training camp in Italy.[4] Although the clubs had agreed on transfer fee,[5] the player was not offered a contract as manager Paolo Di Canio felt that Teniste was not a natural left-back.[6]

Sogndal

On 1 September 2011, Teniste joined Norwegian Premier League side Sogndal on a loan deal until the end of 2011 season with an option to buy.[2] The move was made permanent in December, when he signed a two-year deal with the club.[7][8]

International career

Teniste made the debut for Estonia in a friendly match against Saudi Arabia on 9 November 2007, when he came on as a substitute in the second half.[9]
