Shimsk is an urban-type settlement in Novgorod Oblast, Russia, an administrative center of Shimsky District. It is located at 58°12′40″N 30°43′30″E / 58.21111°N 30.72500°E, on a highway connecting Velikiy Novgorod and Pskov, 48 km south-west of Velikiy Novgorod. Another road connects the settlement to Staraya Russa. Shimsk lies on Shelon River, approximately 10 km upstream the point where it drains into the Lake Ilmen. Population: 3,842 (2002 Census). A number of mineral water sources, notably the ones near Uspolon village, are located nearby.
