Modern Water plc (LSE: MWG) was first listed on the AIM submarket of the London Stock Exchange on the 12 June 2007[2]. It owns, installs and operates world-leading membrane technologies and develops and supplies advanced systems for water monitoring.

Divisions
Membrane Process Division
Modern Water owns a suite of patents that underlie Forward Osmosis (FO) technology platform in a number of membrane processes including: desalination, evaporative cooling systems, enhanced oil recovery and hydro osmotic power (HOP). At this time Modern Water has the first and only operational seawater desalination plants in the world using Forward Osmosis.
Modern Water has deployed Forward Osmosis as a platform technology to produce both desalinated water and evaporative cooling make-up water, with sites in Oman[4] and Gibraltar. In fact, Modern Water is the only company in the world with a commercial[5] Forward Osmosis plant which is located in Al Najdah in Oman. Construction of the plant was completed[6] [7] in September 2012 and it is now being operated by Modern Water.
Forward Osmosis has proven, depending on the application, to deliver significant operating and capital expenditure savings; reduced chemical consumption; robust fouling resistant membranes; and ultimately a lower carbon footprint than competing technologies.
Monitoring Division
The Monitoring division has developed some of the world’s most advanced systems for monitoring and improving water quality. It brings together Modern Water’s market-leading acute toxicity monitoring systems for online, portable and lab use with global environmental and process monitoring products and technologies.
The product range includes products that are recognised across the world as market leaders in their specific applications. This includes Microtox (Microtox M500 & Deltatox) – recognised as the Gold Standard for toxicity testing; OVA and PDV – robust on-line and portable trace metal technology used and installed in more than sixty countries; and EnSys, RapidAssay, EnviroGard, Quickchek, Multisensor, AlgaeChek Ultra and BODChek - used extensively to provide reliable detection of a range of specific environmental contaminants.
