Maywood Avenue School in Maywood, Bergen County, New Jersey, United States, teaches grades four through eight as part of the Maywood Public Schools. Part of the school was used for the Greenwood Early Learning Center which was primarily used to run Pre-K and Kindergarten programs, but as of 2008, is used for the Board offices. School Activities

It has React Club, Choir, Band, Ambassadors, Art Club, and Student Council. In 2005, Maywood students used their lunch money to raise $1,500 for Kenyan schools. The project has since raised $20,000 in the community.

Student Awards

Maywood students won the North Jersey spelling bee in 1995 and 1996.[2] A fifth grader's presentation on the checkered white butterfly won the Species on the Edge - Art and Essay Contest for Bergen County in 2005. The runner up in 2005 was also a 5th grader from MAS. The next year in 2006, a fifth-grade student won for Bergen County again on a green sea turtle. [1]

Sexual harassment suit

A suit for sexual harassment brought by a former teacher against a female school trustee was settled out of court in 1999.
