Melissa Odabash is an American fashion designer and former model based in London.[1][2] She is renowned for her swimwear designs. Vogue has described her collections as being the "Ferraris of swimwear. Melissa has the biggest celebrity seen in her designs Beyonce, Rihanna, Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, Gwyneth Paltrow, Elle ,Cindy Crawford, Kate Middleton, Jessie J, Revvys etc
Biography
Odabash was born in the United States; her paternal grandfather was of Turkish origin.[3] She began her career living and working in Italy as a catwalk and swimwear model. Odabash decided to start creating her own swimwear pieces by hand and selling them to independent boutiques in Milan. She gained global recognition when her designs featured on the front cover of best-selling American fashion magazines. Furthermore, in 1998, her zebra print bikini became the best-selling product in the Victoria's Secret catalogue.[4] In 2004 Odabash designed a collection of one-off pieces to celebrate Speedos 75th anniversary. Her continued success in the industry led Odabash to open a flagship store in Notting Hill, London in 2007, followed by a sister store in Chelsea.[4] Odabash's brand, which includes swimwear to beachwear to ready-to-wear, is distributed in over 48 countries and in over 250 luxury department stores. She has also collaborated with designer Julien Macdonald, first in 2007 and then in 2011.[5] Odabash has also collaborated with celebrities such Alexandra Burke[6] and Gwyneth Paltrow.[7]
