National Vanguard is a white nationalist organization based in Charlottesville, Virginia, founded by Kevin Alfred Strom and former members of the National Alliance. It has been described as "anti-Semitic," [1][2] "racist,"[3][4][5] "neo-Nazi," [6][7][8][9] "homophobic"[10] and sexist.[http%3A%2F%2Ftheprussianblueblog.blogspot.com%2F2005_03_01_theprussianblueblog_archive.html&ei=D6iAROifF6DKQeqy-ZAJ&sig2=Wpq_-nzfsR__QBgEFlLLzw]
The organization's website states that the U.S. would be improved "if it becomes a proud White nation again," [11] and that "Persons of Jewish descent, homosexuals or bisexuals, criminals, persons with a non-White spouse or sexual partner, or persons with more than an undetectable trace of non-White ancestry are specifically barred from National Vanguard membership." [12]
The group denies claims that it is a white supremacist organization, and instead asserts that it is white separatist. Managing Director Kevin Alfred Strom states: "... we are not white supremacists. Supremacists are people who want their race to rule over others in a multiracial society, like the Jews do in Palestine and Israel. We want freedom and self-determination for our people, in our own country. We don't want to rule over others. We're the opposite of supremacists." [13]
Strom states that his "maxim of self-determination" would mean, depending on the country: "No Pakistani MPs. No Middle Eastern Mosques in London. No Jewish Lords. No Caribbean Blacks taking over whole city wards. No Zionist lobby ... no Chinese takeover of British Columbia and no Jewish control of the legal system ... no Africans flooding into Rome anymore, and no more Gypsy gangs preying on White people ... no Jewish-dominated occupation government ... no Turkish 'guest workers' ... no laws making doubting the 'Holocaust' story into a crime ... no laws making the questioning of Jewish atrocity stories a crime ... no North Africans burning down Paris ... no Arabs raping White girls and killing lifeguards." [14]
History
The group was founded by dissident members of the National Alliance, led by Kevin Alfred Strom and the National Alliance's own Executive Oversight Committee. The Committee issued a formal declaration called "A Time for Leadership." [15] The declaration decried then-Chairman Erich Gliebe's dissolution of the National Alliance Board of Directors, reducing its composition to include merely himself and COO Shaun Walker. It called for a reconstitution of the Board of Directors, and the merger of the Board with the Executive Committee in both membership and function. Gliebe and Walker rejected the declaration.
In April 2005 National Vanguard was formally organized by former National Alliance Unit Coordinators and members of the Executive Committee.[16]
Activities
Since the reorganization of National Vanguard, the group has been focused upon unit meetings and the distribution of fliers. A boycott against the hardware chain The Home Depot was started because of their perceived undocumented immigrant stance. Units in Florida, Nevada, and New Jersey appear to be the most active. Members are attempting to form a new political party in Nevada: the White People's Party. [17] [18]
In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, which struck the U.S. Gulf Coast on August 29 2005, a National Vanguard First Response Team was organized to help white families in Alabama and Mississippi [19]. Their decision to help only white victims of Katrina has been described as "reprehensible". [20]
In 2005, National Vanguard showcased the pop-music duo Prussian Blue, made up of thirteen-year-old twin sisters from Bakersfield, California, Lynx and Lamb Gaede, who the organization hoped would "be breaking new ground...creating an entire genre of pro-White music" that will cross over to mainstream audiences. (Sample lyrics: "Aryan man awake/How much more will you take/Turn that fear to hate/Aryan man awake.") [21] [22] It is reported that "their on stage antics include executing the Sieg Heil salutes". [23]
Internal Strife
In February 2006, the Tampa and Denver units of National Vanguard announced they were leaving the organization, citing a variety of complaints including a claim that National Vanguard had collected money for subscriptions to the tabloid, V, without subsequently delivering a product to subscribers.
