Cờ Rôm+ is a freeware web browser focused on the Vietnamese market. This browser is developed by Vietnamese company Cốc Cốc, based on Chromium open source code, which is the same platform used by Google Chrome.
According to data published by StatCounter in July/2013, Cờ Rôm+ is one of the most popular browsers in Vietnam, within just 2 months after release [1], gaining 2,7 million gross online users.
Review
Most features, quality and stability of Cờ Rôm+ are similar to Google Chrome [2] . The significance is that Cờ Rôm + contains functionality that is useful to users of Vietnam: automatic addition of lingual tones when typing, faster downloads, bypassing DNS blocking, ability to download audio and video from popular sites, and integrated English- Vietnamese dictionary [3]
History
- The first version of the browser was presented 4.12.2012. At that time, the interface of Cờ Rôm + is similar to that of Google Chrome, but the browser has already integrated 2 features: the ability to download files to multiple streams and store media content
- Officially, the browser was submitted five months later May 14, 2013 [4]
- Currently Cờ Rôm+ is only available for Windows platform.
- According to official news from Cốc Cốc, Cờ Rôm+ browser has 2,7 million gross online users
- 2 months after official release, number of Cờ Rôm+ users surpass Opera and Cờ Rôm+ is one among 5 most popular browsers in Vietnam, according to data from StatCounter[1]
Fine-tuned features
Enhanced resolution of domain names
In Cờ Rôm + has a mechanism to reserve domain name resolution, allowing bypassing blocked websites (including Facebook) on DNS without using additional software Hotspot Shield Ultrasurf[5] [6]
Addition of lingual tones
Cờ Rôm+ is equipped with a system that allows the text to enter Vietnam without the use of special layouts Unikey Vietkey Introduced in the browser without text tones processed on servers Coc Coc and the user is most likely variants of arrangement of tones. The developers say that the balance of tones increases the typing speed to 50% of regular (those who cannot type with 10 fingers) and 20% among advanced users [5] [6]
Download Media
Cờ Rôm+ is able to find on the web pages of media content (audio, video) and save it to disk for viewing or listening offline.[6]
Faster downloading files
To accelerate download, Cờ Rôm+ downloads files to multiple streams, which under certain conditions can increase download speeds up to eight times. In this case, the actual acceleration is dependent on the width of the Internet channel member, and the speed at which the server sends files [6]
Improved spooled files
Unlike Google Chrome and most other browsers based on Chromium, which remove and cancel all pending downloads when you close your browser, Cờ Rôm+ is able to correctly save and renew them (assuming that the server is who gives the file to support this feature).[3]
