Sat-Okh (c. 1920 – July 3, 2003), also known as Stanisław Supłatowicz, was a soldier in the Polish Resistance during World War II. He was a Polish-Shawnee and to have grown up in Canada among Native Americans.
Later he published several autobiographical novels for children.
Early life and education
Stanisław Supłatowicz, or Sat-Okh was a son of a Polish mother and Shawnee father, born in Canada and reared among his father's people in his early years due to the outbreak of the World War II[1].
Military career
After escaping from the Gestapo, he joined the Polish resistance movement during the German occupation. After the war, he enlisted in the Polish Navy, where he served for six years.
Literary career
Under the name Sat Okh, he published several autobiographical novels for children in Polish. He was half-Polish half-Shawnee, born in Canada to a Polish mother and a Native American father. The books, which describe a boy's childhood and coming of age among the Native Americans, were very popular among children from Poland and all over the world. He published his books from 1958 to 2001.
Sat Okh died in Gdańsk on July 3, 2003.
