Education

Adam Levin received a A.B. from Stanford University and his J.D. from the University of Michigan in 1974. [2]

Career

Adam Levin is a nationally recognized expert on identity theft and credit. He has appeared as a contributor on many talk shows, podcasts, and blogs, including the Huffington Post, and ABCnews.com. He has also served as a consultant for Bloomberg, USA Today, and Forbes.

As Director of Consumer Affairs in New Jersey, Levin worked with the NJ legislature and various state regulatory agencies to enact and promulgate over 40 major consumer protection laws and regulations.[3] He personally led the fight to force 15 million unsafe Firestone 500 tires off the road. Levin advised consumers on symptoms that indicated failing tires and the proper way to check tires for defects. [4]

A firm believer that the most effective way to protect consumers was the promotion of cooperation, collaboration and communication among government, business, media and consumers- during his tenure as Director of Consumer Affairs, Levin developed new consumer educational materials and distribution channels and made over 1,200 consumer educational presentations in five years. [3]

Some of Levin's accomplishments as Director of the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs include the promotion of statewide financial literacy programs, two major tire recalls, and a national effort to secure the right for professionals to advertise- an occurrence which created favorable conditions for price competition and established greater consumer protections in the health spa industry. [3]

In 1982, Levin resigned his post as Director of Consumer Affairs to run for office. He had won the nomination to run for the United States House of Representatives in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District. Levin ran against Republican Matthew Rinaldo but was ultimately unsuccessful in unseating Rinaldo who had been the five term incumbent in the 7th Congressional District. [5]

Once the election was over, Levin entered the real estate business and co-founded Kingswood Management, the Regal Management ( formerly Bellmarc-Regal Management)- one of the largest residential property management companies in New York City.[6]

In 1994 Levin founded Identity Theft 911, an online provider of personal-touch identity management solutions, identity theft recovery services, breach services and data risk management solutions for businesses.[7]

In 2003 he Co-founded Credit.com, Inc- an online financial services educator and resource for solutions that help enable consumers to actively manage their credit finances. [8]

Levin also serves as the President of the Philip and Janice Levin Foundation - a major contributor to the renovation of 19th-century paintings galleries at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. [9]
