Hewitt-Trussville Middle School was founded in 1967, as a part of Jefferson County Schools. It is now a part of Trussville City Schools school system. Hewitt-Trussville Middle School(more commonly known as "HTMS") teaches students from grades sixth through eighth. Over the years, Hewitt-Trussville Middle School has become renowned for its outstanding academic education and quality teaching methods. The HTMS mascot is the husky, and HTMS has a heated rivalry with the Clay-Chalkville Cougars. The current principal is Lisa Berry, who had previously served as an assistant principal at both HTMS and HTHS. Assistant principals are Dale Posey and Dr. Kara Chism.
Courses
HTMS offers course ranging from Spanish, to symphonic band Art, Robotics, Mixed and all-girls choir. HTMS offers courses in Pre-Algebra, as well as Honors classes for those who excel in average courses like Algebra. HTMS's diversity in course is one of the factors why 95.8% of students surveyed called the school "highly satisfactory". HTMS offers extra-curricular activities such as Art I-II and sports.
