Medanta (Medicity)[1] is a large multi-specialty medical institute located in Gurgaon in the National Capital Region of India.[2][3] It was established in 2009, with cardiac surgeon, Naresh Trehan as its chairman and managing director.[4]

Overview

The hospital was founded by cardiac surgeon Dr. Naresh Trehan, who became its chairman and managing director. After an initial estimated cost of 932 crore (US$110 million) funded by bank syndication which consisted of YES Bank, Allahabad Bank, Dena Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank and State Bank of Hyderabad;[5] it opened in October 2009,[6] at a cost of 1,200 crore (US$140 million).[4] The Institute was created to high standards of medical care along with clinical research, education, and training. Medanta[7] spreads across 43 acres (17 ha), and includes a research center and medical and nursing school. It has 1,250 beds and over 350 critical care beds, with 45 operation theatres catering to over 20 specialties.[4]

In 2012, Medanta opened a neuro care OPD at Jagdish Memorial Hospital at Kankerbagh, Patna.[8]
