When it comes to anime fans asking Stephanie in conventions of who is her favorite character she voiced, she always states, "Your roles are like your children. You have your favorites, but you don't tell anybody who they are." But she has stated that she was more related to Mamimi Samejima in FLCL and Hinata Hyuga in Naruto and Naruto: Shippūden when she was growing up as a kid. She even has similarities with Orihime Inoue in Bleach when it comes to her weird cooking. She has announced that she will reprise the role of Eureka in another sequel called Eureka Seven: Astral Ocean.

Being Asian herself, she has the advantage of knowing how to speak Japanese and can even sing songs in Japanese as well. Only when it comes to karaokeing. Her last name stands for "stone" in Chinese. Also as Jennifer Sekiguchi, "Seki" also stands for "stone" in Chinese.

Her hobbies are swimming, exercising, karaokeing, photography, and dancing.

She mentioned on the interview of We Heart Japan that Kari Wahlgren was the first person to hire as an anime voice actor.

"I hired Kari in her very first anime voiceover role. So it is so cool that I’ve been able to watch her career grow and take off. Kari is one of the most humble and smart girls I know. She really deserves all the success she has in her life. I adore her and I don’t get to hang out with her enough."

Career

She became interested in being an actor when she was in her early years of highschool. After graduating from UCLA, she took a job as a producer to pay the bills while she pursued her acting career. She learned everything from creating licensing agreements and budgets to write ADR and subtitled scripts. When the opportunity arose to change her focus on acting, she jumped at it. As she rose, she always considered herself as an actor rather than an actress. As well as voice actor rather than voice actress. Only to find it neutral to all genders to consider themselves as actors or voice actors in her opinion.

Stephanie has recorded radio spots for United States Cellular Corporation and was thrilled to record an episode of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, which she voiced Mai Le. Even though she got her star in doing voice-over for anime, she can still be heard in many video games like Bioshock 2, Aion: The Tower of Eternity, True Crime: New York City, Devil May Cry 4, and Resident Evil 5 as the current voice of Rebecca Chambers on the Resident Evil franchise. Beyond using her voice, Stephanie was flown by plane to Japan to voice and motion capture the role of Cereza in Sega's video game Bayonetta. Not only that, she also voice and motion captured the role of Canna in Ninja Gaiden 3. She has also worked as a voice-over director for video games such as Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition, Resident Evil 6, Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles, Resident Evil: Chronicles HD Collection, Resident Evil: Revelations, and Castlevania Judgement.

Sheh also has quite a few skills behind the scenes. She has also worked as a recording engineer and voice director. Her first passion however, remains acting. In college, she was the Film&TV editor for the Daily Bruin, where she reviewed movies and interviewed celebrities. She dabbled as a freelance entertainment journalist before transitioning to producing. She kept up with her writing chops by adapting graphic novels and ADR scripts, such as Transformers: Cybertron, Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, Mia and the Migoo, Paradise Kiss and various others.

She got her training and studying on acting, voice acting, and improvisation in Second City Training Center, East West Players, Susan Blu Voiceover Workshop and UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. She takes acting lessons once a week.

She is even a wedding photographer that works with her dearest friend, Minh Nguyen at Life Magical.

Live Acting

In addition to voiceover, producing, directing, and script writing, Stephanie has begun pursuing an on-camera acting career. She has appeared several times on G4's Attack of the Show! as "Tiny Olivia Munn". In her official website, she has mentioned that the entire crew was amazing to work with. Another on-camera film that she's done was a role as a Dancer at one of the episodes of Modern Family. She even got a role to shoot an ABC pilot as a AA Group Member #3 alongside with Damon Wayans and Jane Lynch at the 2008 film Never Better. She was in a documentary movie as herself in Adventures in Voice Acting along with many other voice actors and actresses who were interviewed as well. She also came out as her role as Teri at the 2010 short film Infinity alongside with Renée O'Connor, Jed Sura and Pat Crawford Brown. In 2010, she came out as her role as a Chinese Restaurant Waitress in the 2010 film Love Like Bullets alongside with Johnny Yong Bosch, Lex Lang, Yuri Lowenthal and several asian actors. In 2012, she also came out as a Host (as well as herself) in the 2011 Talk-Show TV series BPM: Beats Per Mnet.

Award Nominee

As "Jennifer Sekiguchi", she has been honored with a nomination for "Best Voice Actress in an Anime Comedy" by the American Anime Awards for her voice-over work as Kirie Kojima in Girls Bravo, and Guu in Haré+Guu / Haré+Guu Deluxe. She did mentioned that she was bummed that she didn't win the award.

Credits

She is often credited as either Jennifer Sekiguchi, Stephanie Shane, Stephanie Shea, Tiffany Hsieh, Lulu Chiang, Laura Chyu, Becky Chiang, Saki Shin and Michelle T. Hseih. She mentioned that the reason she has so many credits of herself is because in the beginning of her voice acting career, she had an "identity crisis". Afraid of being obsessed into trying to be a celebrity and thinking that she should work on being actor rather than having fans and being popular.

Charity work

In response to the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, she organized a fundraiser called We Heart Japan with her friend Pinguino Kolb, managing by getting a huge number of voice actors to help out in the process, among many others like anime fans.

"I’ve visited Japan many times. And I owe so much to that country. I am an actress because I got my start in anime. I have so many friends that I’ve met through work. I love so much about Japan and it breaks my heart that so many people have suffered due to the disaster that occurred. I have visited Japan many times. And I know I will go back again.

I wanted to prove to the world through my charity group that anime fans can give back. Recently there has been a lot of bitterness in the industry towards fans because so many fans steal their anime by downloading illegally and it is a fact that the illegal downloads are killing the industry. That said, I wanted to focus on the positive. I believe that anime fans have generous hearts and can rally together to help the people less fortunate. So why not do something for the community and help out. It was the least that I could do. It is sooo much work and none of my friends who are working on it are getting paid. We all do it to give back to the community.

The October 1st We Heart Performing for Japan Show is going to be epic. Everyone who does not go will without a doubt regret it. For the first time in over a decade the original cast of Cowboy Bebop is returning to do a live reading of an episode. We also have singer/songwriter Mari Ijima performing songs. And we have ex-Power Ranger performers Dan Southworth and TJ Rotolo doing a fight demo on what it’s like to be a Sentai Supervillain. Their demo is gonna be so much fun. It involves audience participation.

There will also be refreshments, autographs, raffle prizes. Every ticket comes with an exclusive We Heart Japan postcard that has original artwork from Gurren Lagan that was drawn solely for our charity group. That means you will not be able to find this artwork in any book or purchase it anywhere. You can only get it by coming to one of our events. The event is from 5pm-8pm and it’s only $40. I really really really hope people turn out for it. And if you can’t make it to Hollywood please tell your friends about it. I heard some people may be getting friends together and taking a road trip. It would totally be worth it."
