He made his professional debut with [[Hannover 96]] on 12 August 2001, against [[SpVgg Unterhaching]], on the 61st minute replacing [[Nebojša Krupniković]].
Heiner Backhaus is a German football player and coach. He is one out of two players,who played in all continents.Backhaus started his career in the academy of German club FC Schalke 04,before being transferred to former German champion Werder Bremen. Playing 3 Years for Werder, he decided to move abroad and was loaned to Melbourne Victory in Australia.Backhaus expressed many times during his career, that he never felt German. Playing for clubs in Cyprus, Greece, Malta Egypt, Saudi Arabia, China, Turkey and Lebanon completed his journey.

While playing as a professional footballer, Backhaus graduated in Sportsmanagement in the distance Hagen University and completed successfully the UEFA A licence as football coach. Recently, Backhaus assisted German coach Ewald Lienen at the Greek club AEK Athens.
He has played for [[Rot-Weiss Essen]], [[1. FC Union Berlin]], [[Borussia Mönchengladbach]], [[DSC Arminia Bielefeld]] and [[Kickers Offenbach]] in Germany, and [[AEK Larnaca]] in [[Cyprus]]. Heiner Backhaus (born 4 February 1982 in Witten, Germany) is a professional footballer.[1] He plays as midfielder for SV Blau-Weiß Farnstädt.[2]

Playing career

He made his professional debut with Hannover 96 on 12 August 2001, against SpVgg Unterhaching, on the 61st minute replacing Nebojša Krupniković.

He has played for Rot-Weiss Essen, 1. FC Union Berlin, Borussia Mönchengladbach, DSC Arminia Bielefeld and Kickers Offenbach in Germany, and AEK Larnaca in Cyprus. He played for Valletta from the summer of 2007 but left the club at the end of the season, after the championship success to join Kitchee SC.
