Long in development hell, several directors including Terry Gilliam and Paul Greengrass have attempted to make the film with stars including Robin Williams, Sigourney Weaver, Ron Perlman, Hillary Swank, and Jude Law, with a screenply by Sam Hamm.
As of 2006, Warner Bros. Studios is in negotiations with Zack Snyder to direct. The screenplay was written by David Hayter of Metal Gear Solid fame, writer of X-Men and co-writer of X2: X-Men United.
