Valerian connection?
I have heard that the valium name is derived from the herb name valerian<br>
but I do not know whether this is true<br>
or whether diazepam is chemically related to any active constituent of valerian<br>

:There seems to be no connection between the herb and the pharmaceutical brand. Valium is an invented name, sounding vaguely yet eerily similar to Librium (the the first benzodiazepine to be synthesised in the mid-1950s), the leading tranquiliser at the time of Valium's release. <!-- The hell wid big pharma, save your own soul, no cults, no props except organic ones, and even their efficacy is doubtful (and I don't mean pharma...)--> MinorProphet (talk) 05:07, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
