Chinapulivarru is a village in Guntur district of India. With an estimated 1,668 residents in 2011, Chinapulivarru is the pre historian place of Satavahana Kingdom, in the Bharata Khandam. Chinapulivarru has been a settlement for the two millennia.
Economy
The main source of income is Agriculture Rice, Sugar Cane, Corn, Plantain, Turmeric, Black Gram and Green Gram. Earning from diary industry has also loomed since past four decades after [1] Sangam Dairy has started distributed milk collection centres through several coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh. Few other minor sources of income are through Fishery, Sheep Farming and Poultry. Farmers produces 30 to 45 bags of paddy in the Sarava or Kharif during (July–November) and 25 to 40 bags of Corn in Dalawa or Rabi. 60 percent of population depend on cultivation and remaining 40 percent on daily wages. Some of the notable Farmers from this village from past century are Sri. Talluri, Kotaiah (Shavukar garu), Sri. Kuchibotla, Vyasulu, Sri. Mandalapu, Atchaiyya, Sri. Mandalapu, Venkata Krishna Rao, Sri. Gurram, Pomulu (Shavukar Pamulu).

Chinapulivarru encompasses a total area of 5.6 square kilometres (2.2 sq mi), an area which had a population of 1,668 in 2011 and a population density of 377 inhabitants per square kilometre (980/sq mi)., comprises a total area of 5.6 square kilometres (2.2 sq mi) of which 0.53 square kilometres (0.20 sq mi) is habituated and remaining 5.07 square kilometres (1,250 acres) is cultivated land, govt. land with 5 of the major water ponds namely Pedda Cheruvu, Chinna Cheruvu adjacent to the village, Padi Cheruvu to the west, Gollavani Gunta to the North, Kandimeraka Cheruvu to the south.
Chinapulivarru is about 5.5 to 5.7 m above mean sea level and residents are settled in 79.79 acres of habitat area which is about 6 m altitude. And the soil is classified to be Wet Blackcotton.
Climate
Chinapulivarru has a temperate Tropical semi-arid (steppe) climate, similar to much of Vijayawada. Monsoon season starts from second week June and rains continues till October. Despite its reputation being innounded rainy village, Chinapulivarru has constantly does flood water management with associated state govt. schemes from last 5 decades. Winter season starts from Deepavali around mid-November to mid-February. Snow and fog usually occurring in the on average day from mid-December to January in the early mornings from 4:30 to 8:00 and evening 5:00 to 6:30. Sometimes it is difficult for even cycling. However the ducting of fog above one and half feet from the ground leaving beneath clear visibility can also be seen. Summers are generally hot and suffocating due to high humidity levels in the air being the coastal to the [Bay of Bengal] sea. Chinapulivarru average later May temperate are highest for the season resulting sun strokes for few who expose to it. There were two natural clematis from cyclones devastating Chinapulivarru in 19 November 1977 and 5 May 1990. However the month November is having the history is Cyclones and major storms prone.

Geographical Classifications
Chinapulivarru's is a Village Panchayat, with elected official at village and ward levels, the head of the village, the President, is elected indirectly by the people, through public polls conducted every 5 years term. And the winner will takes all, where the highest polling candidate is elected village President or Gram Sarpanch. The latest panchayat Raj Elections for villages, Chinapulivarru Sarpanch elections in Andhra Pradesh held on 23 July 2013. And the results were announced on the same date. Eligibility of the person is under the rules governed by State Election Commission. And notable presidents in the past are Sri. Yelavarthi, Koteswara Rao and Sri. Vemuri, Ramamurthy. And the elected candidates will have power to nominate for MPTC and ZPTC candidatures. The revenue to the village governance is collected from annual leasing of ponds to aqua culture and leasing government land (mostly the access roads and trails) for cattle grazing and feed grass. It is estimated to have a collection of 1 lakh revenue from all leasing in the year 2013. The money collected along with the funding from state are being utilized for creating Public water Pumps, Lighting etc. amenities in the village.
Temples
Chinapulivarru's has five rejuvenating temples in the South-West Tummalamma Talli Gudi (తుమ్మలమ్మ తల్లి గుడి), Sivalayam (శివాలయం) – Sri BhramarambikaMallikarjuna swamy temple (శ్రీ భ్రమరాంబికమల్లికార్జున స్వామి) and Ramalayam (రామాలయం) in the in the Central part of the village, Nagendra Swamy Putta (నాగేంద్ర స్వామి పుట్ట) to the east of the village on [Vellaturu] kata and Mamillamma Talli Gudi (మమిళ్ళమ్మ తల్లి గుడి) to the west on the bank of Paadi Cheruvu of Agraharam.
Sivalayam is on the bank of Pedda Cheruvu as per historical evidences the first Lingapratista was construe by Bramhasri. Kuchibotla, Chaturvedulu Ramavadhanulu, who travelled thrice to Kasi and brought three Sivalingas during 1750 – 1800. One was consecration on the bank of Pedda Cheruvu, which was initially called as Sri Malleswara Swamy vaari devasthanam and it was constructed by Rachuru Zamindar between 1775 - 1795 with a donation of 21.77 acres of cultivated land. During past century goddess Sri Bramarambika devi’s temple is also constructed along with Sri Malleswara Swamy consecration processes through mantra prathista and prana prathista process was carried on by Sri. Jandhyala, Dakshinamurthy Sastry garu who is great devotee to deities from then it is renowned as Sri Bramarambika-Malleswaralayam. Inside the temple, there are five other important shrines Sri Bramarambika, Maha-Ganapathi, Nandi, Sarada Devi, Subrahmanya Swamy, Navagraha. And the later three deities consecration processes was completed later 2002. During Mid Nov 2010 to February 2012 temple was completely renowned and consecration processes through mantra prathista and prana prathista was carried on 18 March 2012 around 10:15 am with huge influx of pilgrims from and neighbouring villages and their relatives. And the first Kalyanotsavam was performed on 19 Mar 2012.
Ramalayam is an old monument. Inside the temple, there are important eight shrines Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, Sri Anjaneya Swamy, Vinayaka, Sri Krishna, Garukmanta, Sai Baba. During 1991 and 1992 the temple was completely renowned and consecration processes was carried on 24 March 1992 around 8:15 am with huge influx of pilgrims from villages neighbouring and relatives. And the first Kalyanotsavam was performed on the same date which happen to be the Rama Navami. Annual maintenance and contributions are done by family of Talluri (The initiator Talluri, Kotayya).
Water Resources
Chinapulivarru is the only habitat in this sub-region with rich underground drinking water, and the water table may vary from 5.5 m to 40 m in and around the village. For all household purposes residents uses hydraulic hand pumps and bore well. Cattles are fed at water holes / ponds or from underground water. For irrigation there are 3 main canals all sourcing from Right Bank canal (Pedda Kaluva), the first from Kolluru is Kotta Kaluva, which irrigates Northern part by connecting Righ-bank canal at Kolluru and mouths to Koti Kaluva at Totalu polam, Kotipalle east to the Kotipalle and Vellatu and western part with Alluru Kaluva.
There are two rain water drain canals sandwiches the village one to the east called as Koti Kaluva originates at Kolluru and mouths to Murugu Kaluva at Chinapulivarru Sinka and the other Murugu Kaluva to the west sourcing at Anantavaram and mouths to Bay of Bengal at Nakshatra Nagar near Kottapalem in Repalle taluk.
Some of the farmers uses lift irrigation method to cultivate land from these drain water carrying canals.
Ethnic groups
According to the NREGA, based on the 20 Sep 2013 estimates, 31.8 per cent of the 1,668 inhabitants of Chinapulivarru were OC, with 38.25 per cent BC, 29.38 per cent SC and 0.6 per cent gypsy.
Religion
Chinapulivarru has traditionally been Hindu, and has several Temples in Chinapulivarruthe well-known Tummalamma Gudi in the south-west, Sivalayam, Ramalayam in the central part, Chinapulivarru is home to Bramhana, Naye-bramhana (Kamsali, Vadrangi), Kamma, Kapu, Gowda, Golla, Chakali, Mangali, Mala, Madiga and Yerikala communities. Many Christians live in Chinapulivarru palle and Chinapulivarru devudi manyam; the most important Christian edifice is Chinapulivarru church on the south east of village. Chinapulivarru's large Hindu community are found in the north-east boulevards of Pedda Galli, Chinna Galli and Gowdapalem. Christian communities are traditionally live in southern and south-western parts. Chinapulivarru is also home to 5 Hindu temples and has 3 churches.
Philigrimage
Nagendra Swamy Putta is pilgrimage centre to several devotees from and around Chinapulivarru including Vellaturu, Potharlanka, Tenali, Bhattiprolu, Panchalavaram etc.
Transport
Air
The nearest airport is at Vijayawada, north of Chinapulivarru at 77 km with 1 and half hours of car journey, is a smaller, regional airport that mainly caters for low-cost short-haul flights. This terminal connecting major southern sates capitals and towns of India. Currently it is operating daily direct trips to Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Rajahmundry and Visakhapatnam.
Buses
Chinapulivarru connected with Tenali, running 16 and half hours a day, with one bus routing 4 times a day to the village starting at 5:30 hrs till 22:00 hrs. Two other alternative transits with little over 20 min walk about 2 km at Kotipalle or Vellaturu can be opted for public transportation in this duration at varied frequencies covering approximate 100 to and fro via these points, and over 100 plus passenger journeys made every day
The first bus route was established in 1988 by APSRTC when the village was hosting maha Yagnam at Sivalayam.
Cab or Autorikshow
Chinapulivarru's neighbouring villages Vellaturu and Bhattiprolu has travels and cab booking felicities. There are several multi-axle shared services autorickshaw operative between Chinapulivarru and Vellaturu with an average journey time estimated to be at 10 mins for a fare of Rs. 10 per commuter.
Cycling
Cycling in Chinapulivarru has enjoyed a renaissance since the turn of the century. Cyclists enjoy a cheaper, and often quicker, way around than those using public transport or autorickshaw, and the recent transformation to auto bikes has been successful, and now 10 percent own personal vehicles.
Rail
The nearest railway station is Penumarru, which is none elevated single platform station. Connects daily two trips to state capital [Hyderabad] and other five trips to local towns Tenali, Repalle and 2 trips to district capital Guntur. Over five thousand journeys are roughly estimated every day on this network.
Tenali-Repalle Broad gauge section was opened in the year 1916. Repalle Railway Station was opened in 1916 with connectivity to Tenali. At that time it is owned by Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway. It serves for the people living in Repalle, Nizampatnam and Avanigadda.
Roads
Although the majority of journeys involving Chinapulivarru are made by public transport, shared autorickshaws travel is common for most of the children attending primary, secondary schools and working class. There are three main roads Pedda Bazaar, Chinna Bazaar and Gowdapalem Road. The first connecting the outbound rods connecting Kotipalle to the East, Second to Vemuru in the North-West, third to Penumarru in the West the second to the Sivalayam and Ramalayam and Northern part of the village and the later one to the Southern parts of the village. Vattikuti varriveedhi, Mandalapuvari veedhi and Tallurivari veedhi are named after local community house names and are connects Pedda bazar with Chinna bazaar. Munusub gari veedhi is named Sri. Talluri. and Karanam gari veedhi to Sri.
Education
Tertiary Education
Chinapulivarru is home several scholars. In earlier ages Brahmins from Kuchibotla family name have paved visionary path to modern education. Few of them have migrated to towns and abroad. In the medieval ages several other communities have raised quickly since 1962. Chinapulivarru has higher education student population of around 600, of whom around 35 are post and undergraduate degrees and 12 were of post-graduation level.
Primary and Secondary Education
The Primary and Upper Primary schools in Chinapulivarru are state schools and are controlled by the MPES, however there are no private school is in Chinapulivarru. The initial establishment took place in 1910 and then followed by full-fledged facility which is operational with 4 class rooms with 4 and 3 clubbed in one since 1962. Later the upper primary up to up to 7th grade was started in 2005 with addition of 2 more class rooms. . The school stars from 8:15 am works to 12:15 and then followed by 45 min lunch break and them from 1:00 pm till 4:15 pm. The first teacher for this school was Sri. Koilamudi, Subba Rao garu from the neighbouring village Ravikampadu, whose dedicated work has transformed several of the students to modern age technocrats notably Sri. Uppala, Kantharao garu who have established global level Telecom and Power company [2] Aster Private Limited and several subsidiary companies. Followed by Sri. Savarala, Dasaradha Ramayya garu, whose sincerity and long associated commitment has encouraged several communities to send their children to school and helped improving the literacy rate in the society. Till 90’s there was tradition that school engages aaya to bring children to school from home and drop at their premises including care taking in school hours.
Culture
There are two culture in village one Hinduism and the other Christianity.
Every year Hindus offers Tummalamma Talli during July and August on Sunday’s with a day long deity procession process through all major streets of the village. For all delayed rain or drought hit years public are believed to have cloud harvesting by completing ritual of 108 pots water transliterations (Abhishekam) to the main deity. Devotes also offer Rice Pongal to the deity immediately after harvesting the first crop (Rice). In this temples only dhobis are given right to enter into sanctum and sanatorium for chanting and carrying offering to the deity.
In Sivalayam every year devotees offers Laksha Mallepushparcha on Vishaka Poornima, Laksha Kunkumachana cum Bilvarchana in the month of Karthika and Kalyanam on suddha Pornami in Magha.
Dasara is widely celebrated in the first fortnight of Aśvayuja month for the first nine days by performing daily pooja to goddess Sri Bramarambika.
Leisure and Entertainment
Being farmers society people of Chinapulivarru generally get leisure times at mid-April to End April. In this period a festive environment seen is associated with the Chinapulivarru Tirunalla for one day followed by 3 to 4 days preparation. In the early evening Puja at Sivalayam use to be performed by Veda Brahmins and then followed by Vutsava-murthy Radhotsavam covering all three main streets of the village. In the later evening session Indian epic Dramas are performed Mahabharatam and Ramayanam performed by groups and students. In the pre and early Television era major movies are played in public places with nominal fee. However in the past decade majority of the population has have TVs at home with round the clock programs offered from local cable connection agency run by Sri. Kaliyapudi, Sreenu.
Festivals
List of festivals celebrated in Chinapulivarru are Ugadi (Samvatstaradi), Sri Rama Navami, Maha Sivaratri, Oori Tirunalla, Toli Ekadasi, Krishna Janmashtami, Offering to presiding deity (Tummalamma Talli) or guardian or patron deity (గ్రామదేవత కొలుపులు), Vinayaka Chaviti, Vijaya Dasami, Deepavali, Nagula Chaviti, Karthika Poornima, Christmas, Makara Sankranti.
Music
Chinapulivarru is one of the major classical and popular music capitals for Nadaswaram and is home to popular musicians, few notable musicians are from the family of Turlapati who performed several of programs through [All India Radio]. All major Musical concerts are traditionally performed at Temples in groups by male and female vocalists singing Annamacharya, Tyagaraja and Ramadsu Keertanalu and Bhajanas. And all festivals at Sivalayam and Ramalayam Temples. Apart from this several of the folk song singers perform at work while farming and cultivation in groups to improve the productivities. The village is also home to many vocalists, notably Mrs. Vattikuti, Sitamma. Other significant instruments are found at the cathedrals and major churches.
Sports
Chinapulivarru's most popular sport are Cricket in the recent, Kabadi, Swimming, Cycling, Weight Lifting etc.,
Hospitality
Chinapulivarru has two Tiffin and Tea hotels located on on Pedda Bazaar namely, Nagaraju Hotel and Gopalam Hotel. Both of them typically offers breakfast Idli (Rice and lentil based steam cakes), Garelu a.k.a. Vada (Deep Fried Lentil Dough), Minapattu a.k.a Dosa (Rice and Lentil based Pan cake or Crepe or breads or porridges, eaten with condiments as breakfast. And Tea, coffee or milk is served through our the day 5:00 hrs to 21:00 hrs.
Abbulu Sweets and Pickles is a small scale industry established in 2000, which is a home run self-employment shop sells variety of traditional Andhra Sweets and Pickles.
