Help with references
Please help me fix up the references for the page "Soir William Boews" Thanks Mike
Is the correct parameter |displayauthors= or is it |display-authors= ? The Cite template documentation doesn't agree with the CS1 errors documentation on that issue.
Help:CS1_errors and Template:Cite_book don't seem to agree about whether the new citation template parameter is called |displayauthors= or |display-authors= and that confused me while I was trying to update some bibliographies today. The results I got were not what was documented on the help page for the CS1 error message. -- WeijiBaikeBianji (talk, how I edit) 00:24, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

Correcting Korean Director Kim Jee-woon's name
Hello,
I am an autoconfirmed user who is also working for the management company representing Director Kim Jee-woon.
I have been trying to correct his name (for his article title) and an error pops up saying: You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reason: The page could not be moved: a page of that name already exists, or the name you have chosen is not valid. Please choose another name, or use Requested moves to ask an administrator to help you with the move. Do not manually move the article by copying and pasting it; the page history must be moved along with the article text.
There apparently already is a wikipedia page with his correct name (Kim Jee-woon), however it redirects to the incorrectly spelled name (Kim Ji-Woon).
(I tried going through the [moves] but couldn't figure out how to correct such an error.
I would much appreciate it if someone could get back to me with this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Asong5 (talk • contribs) 00:37, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- There are many sources that use Kim Ji-woon, but the most common name used in English language reliable sources seems to be Kim Jee-woon. The article is and has been called Kim Ji-woon since 2005. At that time, IMDB listed him as Kim Ji-woon,[1] but that appears to have changed.[2] There was a failed effort to move the page in 2009.[3] The article largely uses Jee-woon instead of Ji-woon. I deleted the Kim Jee-woon redirect page to make way for a move. There also is Kim Jee-Woon and IMDB lists it as Jee-Woon. A quick scan of the sources show Jee-woon (lowercase w) the most common usage and the article now uses Ji-woon (lowercase w). So if someone want's to second the move to Kim Jee-woon, I think we are good to go. -- Jreferee (talk) 02:38, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- @Jreferee: I'm not sure I'm the one who should second it, as my involvement in this is due to this and a request through IRC help, but I second it. I also kinda moved it before seeing this. Oops. Feel free to trout me for not having Future Sight. ~Charmlet -talk- 02:43, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- No worries on the move. I probably over analyzed it. Your moved actually seconded. What links here may need some cleanup.[4] There also is Category:Films directed by Kim Ji-woon. -- Jreferee (talk) 02:52, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
How to change the article title?
I don't see a "move" option next to "edit". How can I change the title of an article? I would like to change it to be consistent with the Google+ page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ellencici (talk • contribs) 00:48, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- Wikipedia names pages based on the most common name used in English language reliable sources. Thus, the Google+ page is not a consideration in determining article title. If you wish to try to argue the common name, please use the talkpage of the article. ~Charmlet -talk- 00:53, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- @Ellencici: I agree with ~Charmlet. Please don't unilaterally move pages unless you've read and digested Wikipedia:Article titles, the move would be consistent with that policy, and would be uncontroversial. That being said, the reason you could not move the page and see no option to do so, is because your account is not yet autoconfirmed having less than ten edits. The process for discussing a controversial page move is described at Wikipedia:Requested moves.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 03:36, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- @Fuhghettaboutit: I don't get a ping? See how far out of my way I go to give you a huge ping so you see it? On the subject at hand, it'd probably be easier to just ask on the talkpage and see who, if anyone, shows up, at least for a new user :) ~Charmlet -talk- 03:40, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- Unless there's some reason by context, such as that it's an older discussion, I see no reason to ping regulars on a recent thread like this one (and they don't need to ping me), as I assume they will be monitoring, just as I am and will be (and you actually were [and I just bet you will see this response without any ping, which proves the point]). I also don't see much need to ping other answerers at all, unless I am addressing the answerer directly. Regarding the page move, it really depends on what talk page we're talking about (and we don't know which one here, though it might be talk:Eucalyptus (software)). Vast numbers of talk pages are watched by almost no one and posting to it is like throwing a bottle into the ocean and hoping. Everyone should be informed of the process, in any event.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 03:53, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- Point taken on the pings. And on the talkpage. But I'm not sure having everyone informed for all moves is smart. ;) ~Charmlet -talk- 03:56, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- I didn't mean all moves should be done by informing everyone through a requested move, though I can see how my response might have parsed that way. I meant I think it's a good idea to inform everyone of the requested moves process as a vehicle for seeking the move, when they are asking about making a move that looks like it might be questionable.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 04:03, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

To answer your first point, the reason you do not see a "move" option, is that your account is not Autoconfirmed. To reduce vandalism(!), editors cannot move pages, or edit protected pages, until their account is at least 4 days old, and has made at least 10 edits. - Arjayay (talk) 08:15, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
United States Senate election in California, 2012
The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
This article has been massively tampered with reflecting false election results according to the California Secretary of State official election results to show Elizabeth Emken obtaining nearly 48% of the vote when she only obtained 37.5% in actuality. The polling information on this page has also been severely tampered with. Please temporarily take this page down while the data can be fixed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.7.244.57 (talk) 01:28, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
UPDATE: I was able to revert the changes that were made to the page to the original information. Please restrict access to this page to prevent further tampering. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.7.244.57 (talk) 01:32, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- Vandalism was reverted. I have requested semi-protection for the page. I suggest that User:68.7.244.57 register an account, because the semi-protection will apply both to constructive IP editors and to IP vandals. Also, "taking a page down" due to vandalism is not what Wikipedia does, because anyone can edit to correct vandalism (except when the page is semi-protected, when any registered editor can correct vandalism.) Can someone please fix some edits I did on 3 articles about 3 different actors?
The actors names'are Aron_Eisenberg Natalie_Portman Mischa_Barton. Thanks. Venustar84 (talk) 03:48, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- I removed the info at Aron Eisenberg[5] per WP:BLPNAME. What fix do you need for your edits the other two articles? - Jreferee (talk) 04:22, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- Why isn't the info about Aron_Eisenberg son suppose to be put on the page? I added that Mischa_Barton has a multiple cizenship. I also added portman is trying to get a french citizenship. Do the links I added count as a reference. Thanks. Venustar84 (talk) 17:47, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
Speedy Deletion Flag
I am Rebecca Housel, Ph. D. A previous student created my page five years ago. At a recent Comic Con event where I was a moderator and speaker, a photographer who claimed to be a Wikipedia editor, known as "Nightscream" and the owner of several photos taken at the New York Experience Comic Con in June 2013, has made it his personal mission to vandalize my page after I removed a photo he replaced my original photo with. My original photo was approved by me for public use; his was not. As the page represents me, I have a right to remove photos that I find unbecoming or inappropriate, replacing them with photos that are more appropriate and/or convey a professional tone. (Redacted) felt my picture choice was "grainy" but this is Wikipedia, and the picture was a fair representation. It was actually quite a good picture and is available on Wikimedia Commons. This same Nightscream has tagged areas of common knowledge, citing that verification is needed, when in fact, it had been previously provided and removed. I have yet to look through the history, but it seems that this particular editor is using his personal feelings as the real reason for his tagging my page for speedy deletion, citing a number of Wikipedia rules, of course, but it's very clear that his need to tag my page came AFTER I removed his photo. I had asked him, personally, not to change my Wikipedia photo. He did so anyway.
Also, I am an author. I am an editor. I am a professor. I am a national speaker. I am a Wizard World Moderator. My clients include award-winning actors like Henry Winkler, Michael Madsen, James Hong, Sean Astin, Denis O'Hare, etc. Nightscream is using Wikipedia for his own agenda, attempting to cause problems simply because I asked him to not use a photo I did not approve, and to please not change my photo.
As the person the page is about, I have a right to take down photos I feel are inappropriate, replacing them with photos that are. — Preceding unsigned comment added by EmpressMatilda (talk • contribs) 05:24, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

Create Wiki page for internal company only
Hi, Is it at all possible to set up a Wiki page with restricted access?
My idea is to use a wiki page to post information regarding an App we created for use within the company only. We would allow users of the app to discuss new and creative idea's on how they use the App and well as share tips and tricks to get the best out of it.

- Yes, certainly so, but of course that would be nothing to do with Wikipedia. You can read about Wiki software, and there are numerous further links from there. - David Biddulph (talk) 11:27, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- The software that Wikipedia runs on is available (for free of course) at http://www.mediawiki.org - get your IT department to take a look at installing it on your intranet. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 11:37, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

Beauty Ngxongo's wikipedia page
HI
I would like help creating a Beauty Ngxongo wikipedia article, there a several blogs and websites that have mentioned her name when you google. Her work is famous across all nations but wikipedia hasn't recognised her. I just need guidance on how to create the article because my last 3 attempts failed.
Thanks you197.78.139.119 (talk) 13:00, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- I suggest that you use articles for creation and first read My First Article. The essential question is whether this person is Notable, a term which Wikipedia uses in a special way. We consider a person (or a thing) notable when published works from reliable sources have in fact taken note of the person, have written about the person in some detail. Blogs almost never count as reliable sources, and many websites do not count either, depending on who publishes them and how. It is also important for a new article, particularly one about a living person, to cite sources to verify the content. See our policy about biography articles for more details. DES (talk) 13:43, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) To create an article about Beauty Ngxongo, you will need to establish that she is notable, in Wikipedia's sense. I am guessing that this is where your previous attempts failed. Someone will need to find mentions of her in reputable independent sources. These need not be in English, though here at English Wikipedia it is better if they are. Note that blogs do not count as reputable sources. However sources like this should be acceptable. Maproom (talk) 13:46, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
Headline on NCFE page has been changed to Northern Council for Further Education - INCORRECT
The article NCFE's title has been changed to Northern Council for Further Education - this is incorrect as it is an out-of-date title - the company was once called Northern Council for Further Education until it became national, and its' name dropped any acronym completely (you can check this here: http://www.ncfe.org.uk/about-ncfe/history-of-ncfe. I have tried to change this back but the only part of the article I can't change is the title. This needs to be changed as it is misleading. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NatashaBou (talk • contribs) 13:04, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- This move was made by User:DragonflySixtyseven less than a month ago. I suggest that you discuss the reasons with that user on User talk:DragonflySixtyseven, or perhaps better start a discussion at Talk:Northern Council for Further Education or requested moves, and let DragonflySixtyseven know about the discussion. Since the previous move left a redirect behind, an admin will need to delete that redirect if the move is to be reversed. An admin will most probably want to see some indication of consensus about this. Note that the official name of an organization is not the sole factor in determining the title of an article about it, see WP:COMMONNAME a section of our page about article titles. DES (talk) 13:51, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) As the previous page at NCFE was a simple redirect to Northern Council for Further Education, a move from the latter to the former didn't need admin assistance, so I've done it, & changed the lede to reflect the current title. - David Biddulph (talk) 13:55, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
Mladina classification of nasal septal deformities
Extended content
|
---|
Mladina classification of nasal septal deformities Nasal septal deformities in adults are very frequent. Some of them can be seen in more than 90% of the population. Ranko Mladina (born in Split, Croatia in 1949), an otorhinolaryngologist from Zagreb, Croatia, have published the article describing for the very first time all types of nasal septal deformities that can be usually found in man (Mladina R. The role of maxillar morphology in the development of pathological septal deformities. Rhinology 1987; 25: 199-205). Owing to this, a lot of papers have been published by various authors all over the world later on, all of them based on this classification. The classification describes seven types of septal deformities: Type 1: Vertical anterior deflection of the septum, staying in a close contact to limen nasi, i.e. a part of the anterior nasal valve. Type 2: Vertical anterior deflection of the septum, staying in much closer contact to limen nasi,i.e. a part of the anterior nasal valve. Type 3: Vertical, more posterior positioned deflection of the septum staying in a neighborhood of the head of the middle turbinate. Type 4: “S” or “Z” shaped septum, i.e. type 2 on one side and type 3 on the other side. Type 5: It goes for unilateral, horizontal, slightly ascending spur. Other septal side is almost flat in most of the cases. Type 6: A deep, anterior, characteristic groove between the septum and the wing of the inter-maxillary bone on one side, and an anterior, basal crest at the corresponding level of the septum. Type 7: This type is a combination of previous six types. It usually goes for combination between some of vertical deformities (types 1-4) and horizontal ones (types 5 and /or 6). Types 5 and 6 have been recognized as inherited deformities. Type 6 deserves particular attention since it has been showed to be very closely connected to the cleft lip/palate. Many people who have biffid uvula are carriers of the type 6 septal deformity. In addition, in some of them one can easily palpate the submucosal cleft of the hard palate! References: 1. Mladina R. Lana Clarkson images
Hallo ! Im having a little problem with some Wikipedia article regarding late actress Lana Clarkson. Yesterday I've tried to upload two photos of Lanas to her wikipedia article but somehow I was unable to upload these photos ! Two pictures of Lana Clarkson one with her smiling taken in 2002 and another one taken at her gravesite simply did not show up on her page. I believe I did my best with my limited experience that I have ! Im not a person with much experience with editing or adding photos here but I really wanted to add two photos of late actress Lana Clarkson to her wikipedia page and there was no success ! If someone have has more skills with photos on wikipedia please go to "Lana Clarkson wikipedia article page and fix these two photos that I tried to upload, you will see it when you go to her page then under Carrer and Death in her article should be two photos. Thank you so much to any person or persons who will find time to fix this problem ! Thanks again ! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.251.184.172 (talk) 18:42, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- Hi. You haven't uploaded any photos, I'm afraid, which is why the filename you've placed in the Lana Clarkson article is showing red. You're editing as an unregistered user and people can't upload images to Wikipedia themselves unless they create an account, wait four days and have at least ten edits. If you own the copyright to your images then you can upload them to Wikimedia Commons without waiting, but you'd still need to create an account. Alternatively you can go to Wikipedia:Files for upload and ask for them to be uploaded for you. There's more information at Wikipedia:Uploading images. - Karenjc (talk) 19:02, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
Changing an article and verifying information
Hello,
I am a campaign worker in NYC and need to make changes to an article regarding a political figure. I have manually entered changes to the article, but they have not remained.
How can I make permanent changes to an article? What sources do I need to verify the changes so that they are deemed credible?
Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.173.248.43 (talk) 20:58, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- There are several issues here. In general you need to provide a Reliable source particularly for articles about living people, see our policy on such articles. For the change of birth date that you attempted, cite a reliable published source that gives the date. Simply changing things without providing a source may well be changed back (reverted).
- But more importantly, you say that you are a "campaign worker" making changes to an article about "a political figure". This pretty much guarantees that you have a conflict of interest, and must follow the restrictions that imposes. You should declare your conflict (it is much easier to do this is you register an account and log in) and usually suggest edits rather than make them yourself. This is particularly true if you are a paid worker who edits here as part of your employment. You also need to read our policy on the neutral point of view. DES (talk) 21:10, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- I should add that no change to any article is truly "permanent", because any editor can change it at any future time. This is what happened to your changes, they did not magically expire, an individual editor undid or revised them. DES (talk) 21:14, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

- We have no way of knowing who you are. I have removed the namecheck of Jeff Knuth's wife from the article as it is unsourced. I have redacted part of your comment above because it makes potentially controversial claims about Mr Knuth's opinions and attitudes which can't be substantiated. We can't add information about any new relationship to the article unless it has first been published in a reliable source. If you feel you are sufficiently notable to warrant an article being written about you, WP:Ra and WP:AFC are the way to go. -Karenjc (talk) 04:41, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

- You just added a navbox to the band's article by using {{Navbox musical artist}}. If you want to make a navbox template that you can transclude in other articles, you have to do it in template space, by creating a page at Template:Old Crow Medicine Show. You can just paste the navbox code you've already added to the band's article to create that page, then add {{Old Crow Medicine Show}} to any article in which you want the navbox to appear (including the band's article). - We use what we refer to as the subject's common name for article titling. It is likely that the article you refer to is named as such because that is how the subject is known ("S" rather than "Smoker"). As far as adjusting the generation identifier, if you could provide us with a suitable, reliable source that proves he is the second rather than the third, we can change it. drewmunn talk 16:46, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

- The article is at John S. Hunt, III (with a comma). - David Biddulph (talk) 17:12, 17 October 2013 (UTC)
- Somebody (an IP address) has changed III to II in the text of the article today. After some effort, I have found a reference which lists "John Hunt II" (the Boissier Press-Tribune reference) and on the strength of that, I have moved the article. I observe that many of the references given in the article are inadmissible, being searches of unpublished data such as death records. Several of the references are to newspaper articles from the 60's, and these may be solid enough to establish notability. I also observe that the article is an orphan (even Minden, Louisiana doesn't link to it, and nor does Huey Long). --ColinFine (talk) 17:59, 17 October 2013 (UTC)
User pages and Google
Dear editors: I have been doing some Google searches while reviewing articles in Wikiproject Articles for creation, checking to make sure that submissions are not copied from web pages. Sometimes I find that a mirror site has picked up the submission from Wikipedia talk: or User: However, lately, it seems that Google has been picking up some user pages directly; for example, a search for this text: "Based on client feedback, he concentrated" resulted in this result: [15] . I thought that user pages were all marked as "Noindex". Am I mistaken about that? By the way, Afc has been receiving a new submission about every five minutes all week, so if there are more requests than usual for help from new editors at this forum, that may be why. —Anne Delong (talk) 18:26, 17 October 2013 (UTC)
- I had to mark my talk page with noindex. I had a little bit of Internet access the other day and I searched for Miss Bono and my pages appeared so I added the noindex. Miss Bono [hello, hello!] 18:43, 17 October 2013 (UTC)
- {{userspace draft}} adds noindex to a page, and I think the AfC templates do so also, and so does {{user page}}, but I don't think user or user talk are automatically noindexed. DES (talk) 20:14, 17 October 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you. Do you know if it matters where on the page the NOINDEX is located? Also, I looked at several userspace drafts, but didn't see a NOINDEX. Is it hidden somehow? —Anne Delong (talk) 21:25, 17 October 2013 (UTC)
- No, it can be anywhere on the page, and it is on line 7 of the {{userspace draft}} template. ~HueSatLum 21:35, 17 October 2013 (UTC)
- {{user page}} does not add noindex by default. It only does this if you use |noindex=yes. Adrian J. Hunter(talk•contribs) 02:22, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
- Okay; the NOINDEX is hidden because it is inside the Userspace draft template. Sticking one of those on a user page should lead to Google removing it from the index the next time the page is "crawled". Correct? —Anne Delong (talk) 04:06, 18 October 2013 (UTC)

Articles created in main-space despite being rejected at Articles for creation
Is there any sanction/control when an article which has been rejected at Articles for creation, is pasted directly into main-space, without any attempt to address the reason(s) for rejection at Articles for creation?
If not, why not? as an ability to simply side-step a rejection at Articles for creation, makes a complete mockery of the entire process. Arjayay (talk) 19:50, 17 October 2013 (UTC)
- The only "sanction" is that such articles are immediately subject to new page patrol, and may well be promptly deleted. Contributors are warned of this. AFC is designed to help contributors write good articles, or at least ones good enough not to be deleted at an AfD. No one needs to use it, anyone can register an account and add an article directly. AFC Is not a "guardian of the gates". The goal of AfC is to make it easier for contributors to learn how to write acceptable articles. If a contributor chooses to reject that help, so be it. An article rejected at AfC will quite probably be deleted if not improved in a way which would have caused AfC to accept it, but you never know. If others made edits while a draft was on AfC, then a copy&paste move may at least technically violate attribution, and a history merge should be done, just as with any C&P move. If there was only one contributor of content (not counting reviewer's notes), and that person pastes to mainspace, that issue is unimportant in my view. DES (talk) 20:10, 17 October 2013 (UTC)
- This happens a lot. My response is to decline their AfC submission as created if it's been submitted, and treat the newly created page under NPP standards - and I'm a pretty harsh new page patroller, honestly. I've also noticed it happens more with lackluster submissions than anything else. Would it be inappropriate to speedy their draft (submitted or otherwise) as 'user self-created page outside of AfC process'? --TKK! bark with me if you're my dog! 20:47, 17 October 2013 (UTC)
- A copy-paste fragment left in Afc, if submitted, should be decline as "Exists in mainspace". Then we wait a while. If the mainspace article is deleted by the NPP, the editor may very well come back and start working on it again. If, after a while, it appears that the mainspace article is surviving, then the history of the draft is examined. If there's a lot of history, with either multiple authors or over a substantial length of time, then a history merge should be performed to reconnect the two parts. If the draft is just a few diffs by one author, then it can be deleted as a G6 (Housekeeping), since all of the useful material is in the mainspace article and the history is too trivial to bother merging. —Anne Delong (talk) 21:12, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

- (e/c) In the most technical sense (which I'm not sure is the heart of your question), you cannot. The software will not allow a title, including an account name, to be created with a lowercase first letter. However, there are two things you can do. First, you can make your user and usertalk pages appear as lowercase, by placing on them the template
{{lowercase title}}
. Second, in non-article discussion pages such as this one, you should sign your posts by typing four tiles (~~~~) after your post (you forgot to here), which will automatically turn into your signature, with a time stamp, when you save. You can place the tildes without typing them out by clicking on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window. You can customize your signature so that it will display as lowercase. To do this: go to Special:Preferences; scroll down to "Signature"; make sure the box next to "Treat the above as wiki markup" is ticked, and paste into the field above it:[[User:Jesselashcraft|jesselashcraft]] ([[User talk:Jesselashcraft|talk]])
.Then save your changes. If you do that, your signature will display as jesselashcraft (talk). Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 22:21, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

On New Pages Feed, I came a cross a series of articles concerning small villages in Malaysia. - What you should do is read our Conflict of Interest and Notability guidance pages. The page as it stands will almost certainly be deleted almost immediately if it goes live. You need to find substantial third-party independent references to your company to establish that it's notable enough to have a page on Wikipedia, and you are strongly advised as an employee of the firm not to produce the article yourself, as it will be difficult for you to maintain the neutral tone we need. At the end of the section there was a small part about a forecast by Gartner - the note above it said the section was out of date, but interesting and would anyone follow up. - You don't need anyone's permission to edit an article, or to find more up to date information that can be cited to reliable sources and supplement or replace outdated information. Nor do you need to announce it anywhere. If you are unsure about what should be done, or want to let other editors know what you are doing (particularly if your edit must be in multiple sections), you can post on the article's talk page, in this case on Talk:Blog. Dooley Wilson, actor
Dooley Wilson didn't play Little Joe Jackson in Cabin in the Sky it was Eddie "Rochester"Andersons role. After all my research Dooley Wilson had nothing to do with Cabin in the Sky although there were many great actors in that movie...Ethel Water as Petunia, Eddie Rochester Anderson as Little Joe Jackson, Lena Horne as Georgia Brown, Louis Armstrong, Oscar Polk, Willie Best, Bill Bailey, Butterfly McQueen and Duke Ellington. It is a funny and warm the most endearing film a wonderful childhood memory and as an adult I watch it whenever it comes on tv. It is best if you can cite a source, although for negative info that is often hard -- no source will say "Wilson was not in the cast of...". I would advise posting on the talk page of the article (Talk:Cabin in the Sky) explaining your changes and citing a source for the correct cast list. Cabin in the Sky currently says that Wilson played the role on Broadway, and Anderson took over the role for the film. Do you have a source that says differently? As a town employee you have a potential conflict of interest and should familiarise yourself with the policy and edit with caution if at all; however, your recent updates don't appear to be inappropriate. As for your request, the two pages could possibly be merged to preserve their edit histories if they are on the same subject, but a quick glance tells me that one is about a "township" and the other about a "census-designated place" (ie a town) that forms the greater part of that township. They have different geographical areas and different population totals. I am not familiar with the terminology of US local and regional administrative geography, or the criteria for deciding which units qualify for articles and which don't. Maybe someone more familiar with the subject can take a look at the articles? - Karenjc (talk) 14:38, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
- It looks as if the demographic information in the "Horsham, Pennsylvania" article is rather too detailed and is in any case out of date (based on the 2000 census), thus much of it could be removed. Having done that, there would not be enough material left to justify it as a separate article: so it could be merged with the other article. ----Ehrenkater (talk) 15:26, 18 October 2013 (UTC)

Kansas gubernatorial election, 2014 (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
I became a Candidate for Kansas Governor October 8Th, 2013 for the 2014 election. You keep dropping me off your publication. Why???? - Do you have independent, reliable confirmation, that is, independent as in not from your own blog then we can help you. Surely some news reports or some such has carried this? --Jayron32 14:43, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
- You have been adding your name to the list at Kansas gubernatorial election, 2014, but without any reference to prove that you you have declared. Until you can provide such a reference, it is likely that it will continue to be removed. Meanwhile, I have formatted it correctly. Maproom (talk) 14:49, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
- I have found, and added, a reference. Maybe your name will stay there now. Maproom (talk) 14:55, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
- Though, the article says you're a Republican, and the reference says you're a Democrat. I'll leave this to someone who understands US politics. Maproom (talk) 14:59, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
- I have removed the reference, as that was for the 2010 election, not the 2014. - David Biddulph (talk) 15:52, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
- I have found, and added, a reference. Maybe your name will stay there now. Maproom (talk) 14:55, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
Request for an editor to review the errors on the Whole Foods Market article
The article for Whole_Foods_Market has several flags/errors to be reviewed by editors. But no editors are seemingly reviewing or addressing those errors. :-(
Is there a place to request an editor to review the article to take appropiate action on the flags/errors? I'd appreciate it!

insurance
Hi,
I am happy to find this page.I was just telling you that please add my website link with this page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_insurance .Its my site http://(Redacted).co.uk/life-insurance/. I hope so you will thin about that. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Katherinekatie1 (talk • contribs) 20:13, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
- Wikipedia articles are not directories of the web, nor marketing tools. The link you mention appears to be an insurance company or agency site. The article is intended to explain what Life Insurance is, not to list the many many places where it might be obtained. DES (talk) 21:30, 18 October 2013 (UTC)

Three clicks to get to a footnote
Is this kind of footnote okay? This is a featured article candidate, and I'd like to know if there's a better way to set up this footnote. The way it is now, you click on "a" in the article text. That takes you to a note with a footnote at the end, so you click that. This leads to merely the author name, so you click that to finally get to the source. Three clicks to get to a source! Okay, or not?Anythingyouwant (talk) 20:59, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
- @Anythingyouwant: It's working exactly as it should. It's fine. I think you're looking at it in sort of a skewed way. It's not three clicks to get to it, unless you concatenate the note with the citation to the note. It's one click to get from the note markup ([a]) to the text of the note. That's direct. The citation appended to the note ([1]), is not verifying the text in the body of the article but the text of the note, so you wouldn't count body → note → bibliography, because the citation is not verifying any text in the body, i.e. they're two separate events: a note, and a citation to a note. It's thus two clicks to get from the citation on the note to the full citation in the bibliography, which is the same as every other citation in the article, and which is the same as every citation in any article using shortened footnotes. Why am I being constantly logged out?
I am a long term user who always signs in for 30 days at a time. Five times today I have been logged out, even between edits, without my computer being turned off or any other problems on my end, as well as twice yesterday and the day before. I run an Asus computer with Windows 7 and a Safari browser. I have not changed any settings or installed any programs for weeks. I have had two glitches in the past related to an edit tool when wikipedia updated something in regard to certain browsers. Is there a general problem like this now? Thanks. μηδείς (talk) 21:25, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
- The cookie that WP stores may have become corrupted. Try deleting it and logging in again. On a Mac, you can use the "Reset Safari" menu option to do this. I would think it's the same on a Win. machine though I don't have access to one right now to find it. Dismas|(talk) 21:54, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks, I did reboot, and it seems to have stopped. I do know how to delete cookies if it comes to that. Thanks for the answer. μηδείς (talk) 01:03, 19 October 2013 (UTC)
- It happened again, so I have deleted all wiki cookies. μηδείς (talk) 04:36, 19 October 2013 (UTC)
How long does it take to register an account? What if I receive no password?
I requested an account on the English Wikipedia from 86.186.148.151 on 14 Oct, received an instantaneous acknowledgement giving me an ACC # number and a web address at which to complete the request, which I followed up immediately. I was told I would receive a confirmation email with my password shortly, but that was over 4 days ago and still nothing has happened.
In case the confirmation email was lost I went to Special:PasswordReset and entered my email: the automated response said I would receive an email with a new password, but again no email has been received.
My Requested user name does not show up in the Wikipedia list of usernames.
What do I do now? I can find no info covering this eventuality. 31.51.250.227 (talk) 21:36, 18 October 2013 (UTC)

Nothing ventured, nothing gained — I tried registering (again) using the "Click here to register" button on WP:Tutorial/Registration. This invited me to suggest my own password and this time my request was immediately acknowledged. I'm now – after five days – a registered user. Wellset (talk) 09:33, 19 October 2013 (UTC)
Where do I ask a BLP notability question?
I'm considering writing an article on a living person, but I'm not 100% sure he's notable. I'd like to link to some sources and have other editors help me decide. Should I do that here or somewhere else? Thanks, HtownCat (talk) 22:11, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
- I thought I recalled a notability notice board. I can't find one. I suggest you assemble some sources, or perhaps even a draft article, on a page in your userspacve, and ask one or more experienced editors to look them over. Or you could use the Articles for Creation process, where you create a draft and a reviewer assesses it, with notability being a major aspect of the assessment. Spelling Error
Hello.
I don't need any help but you do have a spelling error when editing a page.
Whoever wrote the information at the top has written "Encyclopedic content must be verifiable." but the word is spelt "Encyclopaedic". Just thought you might want to know.
- Only in British English - and that seems to be gradually adopting the American spelling (possibly because many people don't know how to type a ligature in place of the "ae"). Wikipedia uses both British and American English, so "encyclopedic" is perfectly acceptable here. Yunshui 雲水 23:11, 18 October 2013 (UTC)

- In order to get any help you will at minimum need to point us to which one of the 4,300,000 articles is the one about you.
- If you do not wish to disclose publicly, then you can contact the OTRS team as described WP:AUTOPROB.
- However, 1) Wikipedia does not have "authorized" pages by anyone, every article is up for editing by any editors who can contribute within our policies; 2) We actively discourage involvement in articles by people who have a conflict of interest; 3) if you happen to meet the notability requirements for having a stand alone article - that you have been covered in a significant manner by reliable third party sources it is likely that your article will stay posted (although with the editing of experienced editors it will likely be brought into compliance with our policies such as all of the content being verified as having been previously published in a reliable source and presented in a neutral point of view.-- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 01:52, 19 October 2013 (UTC)

Search and Replace
I am attempting to edit a page using the search and replace function. When I click on the icon to use it, I am redirected to the top of the page and nothing else happens. Could you explain how to use the search and replace function? ȸ (talk) 04:32, 19 October 2013 (UTC)
- I don't generally use the buttons above the edit window, so I just looked through them and didn't see a search and replace button in the WP buttons. Is this a feature of your browser perhaps? If so, I can think of two possible scenarios. A) You need to put the cursor in the edit window first and then do the search and replace and B) You're working with a browser that doesn't search the edit window but instead only searches the non-editable text of the web page. On the occasions when I need to do a search and replace, I generally copy the entire text of an article and paste it into a word processor that just uses straight ASCII text in order to not mess with the formatting of the article. I do the search and replace there and then copy/paste it back into the edit window here at WP. Dismas|(talk) 05:45, 19 October 2013 (UTC)
