Metalocalypse: The Doom Star Requiem A Klok Opera is a one hour rock opera special for the Adult Swim animated series Metalocalypse. It was announced on May 10, 2013, by Adult Swim and was released on October 27, 2013. It featured all new music from Dethklok, which will also be released on an album on October 29, 2013.[2]
Plot
The special picks up directly after the Metalocalypse season 4 finale, where Toki Wartooth and Abigail were both stabbed and abducted by the Revengencers, and the rest of Dethklok must try to rescue them.[3] The special will also explain how Toki became a member of Dethklok.
Cast
- Brendon Small as Nathan Explosion, Skwisgaar Skwigelf, Pickles, Charles Offdensen, Ishnifus Meaddle
- Tommy Blacha as William Murderface
- Mike Keneally as Toki Wartooth [4]
- Malcolm McDowell[5] as Magnus Hammersmith
- George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher as Metal Masked Assassin[6]
- Mark Hamill[5]
- Jack Black[5]
Production
The score will be composed by Brendon Small as well as a 50 piece orchestra under the composition of Bear McCreary. The special will contain several guest voice actors such as George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher and Jack Black.[6]
Release
It is possible that this will conclude the Metalocalypse series, as creator Brendon Small has stated in the past that his intention would be to do the fourth season and a movie and then end the show.[7]
On October 1, 2013, Adult Swim uploaded a trailer for the special through their channel on YouTube.
Soundtrack
On October 29, 2013, the score for the special will be released on a full length studio album by Dethklok. The album will feature a 50 piece orchestra under the composition of Bear McCreary. There will also be a "making of" feature included with the album. For the first time Dethklok's live guitarist Mike Keneally will be featured on a studio album.[5]
The first single off the album, "Blazing Star", was released on Loudwire on October 17, 2013.[8]
