"'Till I Gain Control Again" is a song written by Rodney Crowell. "'Till I Gain Control Again" was first recorded in 1975 by Emmylou Harris.[1] and was included on her Elite Hotel album. Elite Hotel was Harris' second album to be released in 1975, preceded by the widely acclaimed Pieces of the Sky. Elite Hotel surpassed it on the Billboard Music Charts, becoming Harris' first #1 country album.[2] Crowell recorded his own version of the song on his 1981 self-titled album.

In 1983, the song would be recorded by Crystal Gayle and her recording was her tenth number one on the country chart. Her recording would go to number one for one week and spend a total of twelve weeks on the chart.[3]
