Is Bowser dead? Every time he appears, Bowser Jr. has to bring him back from the dead. Half the time you see him, he's a skeleton. So, Is this ''The'' King Koopa, or a/a series of ressurected ancestor(s)? [[User:Supermariorobot|Supermariorobot]] 05:48, 12 June 2006 (UTC) |

Game Name
The game is now called New Super Mario Bros. I think the name should be changed, and all information, to reflect that.
- Honestly, that sounds like a working title to me... I doubt it'll stick.
- I'm going to take out all references to the title being a working title. After all, the new boxart still has the same name. - NES Boy 11:54, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
GBA version?
Is a GBA version possible? -Pedro 01:27, 8 September 2005 (UTC)
- Probably not. We haven't heard anything about a GBA release, and this uses 3D models and the touch screen, which makes it impossible to use on the GBA. Sonic Mew | talk to me 13:55, 25 September 2005 (UTC)
I know this isn't related to the article, but...
WHOO! The game is coming out soon! I've been waiting for this moment for SO LONG. 8D
- Same here. And I don't even have a DS (yet). Jeff Silvers 16:02, 29 April 2006 (UTC)
- Just got a copy (don't ask how) and it's not as great as people are making it up to be. --Thaddius 15:46, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
Get rid of it thaddius and don't buy it Jeff silvers but buy a DS because the 7 koopa kids are not in the game only Bowser JR. is
User:Dayle14 18.04, 11 May 2006
- Yeah, that doesn't seem like a valid reason to not like the game. The Koopa Kids weren't in Yoshi's Island, either, but that game is all kinds of badass. Jeff Silvers 19:30, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
Uh, WHAT do you guys think is wrong with it? You shouldn't talk like that about a game with no reason, so WHAT is it you don't like?(excuses "no Yoshi=bad" and "No flight items? puke" are invalid)
Seriously! I think it's currently one of the best games for DS! It's a great combination of old and new! --Padron May 22, 2006
- While the game is great, and the best I have ever got on the DS, there is just that sense of "I've seen it all before". It's the same I would say about Super Mario Sunshine. Gerard Foley 15:35, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
Sonic Spin?
"The Blue Shell item gives the player the capability of riding on it and is similar to a Sonic Spin."
What is this "Sonic Spin" that is being referred to? I had assumed it was referring to the signature move of Sonic the Hegehog, but as the wiki link I put in the article to the character keeps being reverted, perhaps I was wrong. In either case, a wiki link should be provided, since it's not immediately obvious to what it referrs, especially if someone is unfamiliar with the subject matter. —Matthew0028 18:36, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
- ...or you could remove all references to it. That works too. :p —Matthew0028 10:47, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
well sorry It's just it is a bit unfair that the koopa kids are not in it
Koopalings officially NOT in this game
People/fans have already gotten their latest Nintendo Power, June issue #204, and they said that the article states that the last interview was a misunderstanding. Nintendo really meant Bowser Jr. as a Koopa Kid. They did not mean that all the original 7 Koopalings will be in this. For the proof of this misunderstanding, just read the June issue #204 of Nintendo Power. 20:10, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
- Update - I've recieved my NP issue today, and I'll read you some words form the Pulse section that claims that the Koopalings are not in this game.
- Missing Kids
- Quit jerking me around! My favorite Mario characters are the Koopa Kids. In Volume 202, you asked Takashi Tezuka if, among other things, the Koopalings were going to show up in New Super Mario Bros., to which he replied, "yes." The very next issue shows Bowser Jr.-not one of the original Koopa Kids-in screen shots, but no word or image of the rest of my favorite Koopa pack. Are they in or not?
- Bowser Jr. is indeed in the game, but the Koopa Kids are not. Mr. Tezuka's claim to the country was likely the result of a mistranslation or misunderstanding. We apologize for the confusion. If it's any consolation, the game is still superawesome.
- And so, there you have it. The Koopalings are officially NOT in this game. 19:34, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
Story
I just got this and rather than start writing the story out there I thought I'd start out here, especually since I have not finished it yet.
- While Mario and Peach are going for a walk they notice that lightning is striking Peach's castle. Mario runs towards to castle to stop whatever is happening and Bowser Jr. nabs Peach and runs off.
Worlds
World 1: Grass
World 2: Desert
World 3: Tropical Island/Water
World 4: Forest
World 5: Ice\Snow
World 6: Mountain
World 7: Sky
World 8: Bowser's Lair
Multi Card
Does the mario and luigi multiplayer require each person to have a card, or 1 card between 2 people, also I feel that it should be noted that the minigames are one card for however many players.
- The Mario & Luigi multiplayer works with multicard and singlecard. Cosmos 16:28, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
- I recently added a simple sentence informing of single-card play --Linkeatspie 13:47, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
Are my recent edits okay?
I made 4 back to back edits and then a 5th and 6th edit to fix 2 mistakes I made, but didn't cite any resources because I added info I learned from playing the game. Is this okay, or should it be reverted? 68.7.234.177 23:29, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
Secrets
This section seemed akward, was badly formatted, and had a few inaccuracies. Therefore, I completely redid it, and below are my reasons why:
The red boxes and the blue mushroom house are not secrets. The latter is unlocked by beating the game, and the former are similar to the Hammer Bros. They visibily move around the world map and are in plain sight within the levels.
There is no warp pipe which leads to World 5. There are several cannons which shoot Mario to other worlds. However, this article is not a game guide, and if we added specific directions about one cannon, then we'd have to do it for every cannon, and then we would have to do it for every other secret exit, invisible block, strategies to get 1-ups, etc. The article should only include details about general shortcuts, hence why I described what cannons are, rather than how to unlock each cannon, and where each cannon leads to. Cosmos 00:50, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Codes
I deleted the "Codes" section because the Luigi secret is already stated in the "Secrets" section. --Padron May 22, 2006
Sales information in Japan
It is being reported that the game sold 480k copies in the first day (the previous record was Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training 2, selling 410k copies in the first four days). I will update the information when a reliable source (probably on next Wednesday or Thursday) informs about the total numbers. -- ReyBrujo 11:59, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- It seems Nintendo reported to retailers that New Super Mario Bros. sold 900k copies in the first four days. [1] -- ReyBrujo 11:42, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
Wiki game guide
I've started to work on a wiki guide to this game at http://www.gmcfoley.com/wiki/index.php?title=New_Super_Mario_Bros. If anyone is interested in helping out. Thanks, Gerard Foley 15:19, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
Formula for Levels
69.181.79.72 keeps adding "The number of levels in world X can be described with the function f(x) = floor(8 + 0.5X)." This is totally irrelevant to the article. There are 80 levels and 8 worlds in the game, a formula that very few people can understand is not necessary. Cosmos 04:42, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
- It is NOT difficult to understand. For example, World 5 has floor[8+0.5(5)] = floor[10.5] = 10 levels, while world 7 has floor[8+0.5*7] = floor(11.5) = 11 levels. I even Wiki-linked to floor. And of course, SUM(f(x), n=1, n=8) = 8+9+9+10+10+11+11+12 = 80 levels. Self-explanatory. 69.181.79.72 06:21, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
- It is not difficult for you to understand. I consider myself of average intelligence when it comes to math, and for me the floor function article might as well be written in Spanish. Anyways, the difficulty in understanding your formula is irrelevant, because I don't think the number of levels in each world needs to be elaborated on in the article, whether in the form of some advanced formula that requires special knowledge beforehand to understand, or a literal description.. Information on how many worlds and levels there are and the theme of each world should be sufficient. Cosmos 09:10, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
- That information is too specific for Wikipedia. It may fit a Wikibook or a StrategyWiki entry about New Super Mario Bros., but it is not necessary for Wikipedia. Remember that Wikipedia should not give advices, suggestions, or include tutorials, guides, manuals or recipes per 8th information policy. -- ReyBrujo 11:07, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
disappointed.
I was greatly saddened that they cut out the co-op 2-player adventure, which they had mentioned not to long before the release of the game. why at the last second did they make it only a battle two player?
