Nazriya Nazim is an Indian actress who appears in Malayalam and Tamil cinema. She used to be a TV show anchor before she pursued her career as a lead actress. She also did few films as a child artist in Malayalam.

Personal life

She is born to Nazim and Beena. Her brother name is Naveen.[1] Nazriya studied in Christ Nagar School, Thiruvananthapuram. She has stated that she wants to study something related to business and that she may take up either a Commerce or BBA course.[2] In 2013, she joined Mar Ivanious College in Thiruvananthapuram, for BCom,[3] but reportedly left the college, owning to her tight shooting schedules.[4] Her family lived previously in Al Ain, UAE, before moving to Thiruvananthapuram.[5]

Career

Starting her career in 2007 as a child artist, she acted in a Malayalam film Palunku (2006) directed by Blessy, in which she played the daughter of Mammootty's character.[5] She went on to become an anchor on Asianet's music reality television show, Munch Star Singer.[5] Mohanlal-starrer Oru Naal Varum (2010) was her next venture, in which she played the role of Dhanya, the daughter of Sreenivasan's character.[6] She also did a supporting role in the Mammootty-starrer Pramani.[5] Nazriya was cast in an album titled Yuvvh by Sony Music Entertainment, which became very popular among the youth.[5]

Nazriya finally landed her first female lead role in the Malayalam film Maad Dad (2013). She once again associated with the team of Yuvvh—director Alphonse Putharen and actor Nivin Pauly—for the romantic comedy thriller film Neram which was simultaneously made in Tamil and Malayalam.[7][8] She was then seen in Raja Rani an IT professional called Keerthana.[9] Gautaman Bhaskaran from Hindustan Times wrote "the one person who caught my attention was Nazriya Nazim, who as Arya’s lover, Keerthana, is absolutely gorgeous with a face that is so expressive that we do not need her to speak".[10] Her next release was Naiyaandi in which she played a dentist.[11]

Her upcoming films areThirumanam Ennum Nikkah in Tamil,[12] in which she acts as an Iyengar girl,[13] and Salalah Mobiles,[14] Om Shanti Oshana [15] and Hi I am Tony in Malayalam.[16]
