== Replaceable fair use File:Rangiora High School A and M block.jpg ==
[[File:Ambox warning.svg|32px|left]]
Thanks for uploading '''[[:File:Rangiora High School A and M block.jpg]]'''. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of [[Wikipedia:Non-free content|fair use]]. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the [[Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria|first non-free content criterion]]. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have ''no free equivalent''; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

# Go to [[:File:Rangiora High School A and M block.jpg|the file description page]] and add the text <code><nowiki>{{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}</nowiki></code> '''below''' the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <code><your reason></code> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
# On [[File talk:Rangiora High School A and M block.jpg|the file discussion page]], write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, [[Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission|requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license]], or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on <span class="plainlinks">[{{fullurl:Special:Contributions|target=Olliechick&namespace=6}} this link]</span>. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the [[Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria|non-free content policy]]. If you have any questions, please ask them at the [[Wikipedia:Media copyright questions|Media copyright questions page]]. Thank you. <!-- Template:di-replaceable fair use-notice --> [[User:Stefan2|Stefan2]] ([[User talk:Stefan2|talk]]) 23:41, 27 November 2013 (UTC)

Image tagging for File:Triple-town-bear.png

Thanks for uploading File:Triple-town-bear.png. You don't seem to have said where the image came from or who created it. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Infobox for Triple Town

What is the "state:" part of an infobox for?

Hello! Have a look at Template:Infobox video game, the documentation on this page explains it. Most popular templates have documentation like this. I have included the relevant section of the documentation below to save you time. -- Patchy1 05:39, 23 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Determines the initial collapsed state of the infobox. Set =collapsed to put the box in collapsed state initially. Set =expanded to put the box in expanded state initially. Set =autocollapse to have the box's initial collapsed state be determined automatically based on the number of other templates in the article that also have the "collapsible" attribute. (Has no effect if collapsible is not used)"

Hello Ollieinc,

It seems to me that an article you worked on, Rangiora High School, may be copied from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZM7jaQSwII. It's entirely possible that I made a mistake, but I wanted to let you know because Wikipedia is strict about copying from other sites.

It's important that you edit the article and rewrite it in your own words, unless you're absolutely certain nothing in it is copied. If you're not sure how to fix the problem or have any questions, there are people at the help desk who are happy to assist you.

Thank you for helping build a free encyclopedia!Template:Z18 MadmanBot (talk) 21:21, 5 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of "The most amazing town ever"

A page you created, The most amazing town ever, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it redirects from an implausible misspelling.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Thank you. 🍺 Antiqueight confer 22:17, 5 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Rangiora High School, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Waimakariri (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hatnotes

Please don't create hatnotes pointing to school houses. The school houses are not notable, and if you tried to create articles about them I think they would be deleted very promptly. They also do not have the same name as the person they are named after - the house name might be "Hillary", but the article on the person is at Edmund Hillary. It is unlikely that anyone will go the the Edmund Hillary article looking for information on the house. Finally, there are often numerous items named after famous people. See Ernest Rutherford#Items named in honour of Rutherford's life and work as an example. It would be silly to try to create hatnotes for all of the things listed in that section.-gadfium 01:44, 9 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:RHS map.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:RHS map.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:59, 10 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

In regard your recent posting at Teahouse

Hi, Ollie. I am one of the Teahouse hosts. Thanks for coming by and asking your question. I am glad you got your question answered somewhere.

The reason I am writing you is to let you know that you cannot just remove something you say in a forum here. It is certainly ok for you to copyedit it; it is ok for you to remove most anything from your own user talk page. But it isn't ok to take things back elsewhere. You see, every edit you make on Wikipedia becomes Wikipedia's as soon as you press that save button. If you will notice at the bottom of the edit window it says "By clicking the "Save page" button, you agree to the Terms of Use, and you irrevocably agree to release your contribution under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 License and the GFDL." I put your question back, and here is why: Even though I cannot answer your question ( I haven't a clue when it comes to audio files), someone may be able to answer it and the answer may help educate another editor. Teahouse is actually about new users learning how to use Wikipedia, not about answering specific questions from new users. The idea is that many may benefit from an answer directed at one. Hope you understand that. It is a great question! Welcome to Wikipedia, Ollie. We are glad you are here! John from Idegon (talk) 09:10, 15 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You know, I need to apologize for this. You are more than welcome to redact your comments anywhere. It is however, my feeling that removing a question from a help type page like teahouse serves no purpose, because even if it got answered for you elsewhere, the answer there could still serve to educate another editor. As a matter of fact if you feel up to it, given the situation, it would be great if you were to go back there and answer your own question. This is a collaborative project and it is always a good thing to educate another editor! Sorry if we got off on the wrong foot. I do a lot with US schools; if I can ever be of assistance, please drop a note on my talk page. Happy editing! John from Idegon (talk) 03:14, 17 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

School trivia is non encyclopedic

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a memorialization for a school. There is nothing about the school house competitions that makes the school important or notable.-- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 11:50, 15 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest rules

Based on your statement on your user page,

Information icon Hello, Olliechick. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 03:53, 16 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

because you have not provided a reliably published source for the claim

see WP:V. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 04:26, 16 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have an XLS reader so I cannot see what the contents of the spreadsheet are. the site's URL www.educationcounts.govt.nz would be a general indication that it is probably "reliable" but also a that it is a primary source document that should be used with great caution so it is not misused. and the fact that it is in a spreadsheet format gives concern that it is a working document and not some sort of published format. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 12:11, 16 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
in that case it should only be used for a statement like "as of [X date] Rangiora has an enrollment of Y"
making comparisons using a constantly dynamic document would not be "verifiable". -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 23:04, 16 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you are looking for work...

I noticed that you are inviting editors to add to your todo list. You might like to give User:SuggestBot a try. It will look at the articles you have edited so far and come up with a list of articles needing help which it "thinks" you might be interested in.-gadfium 06:10, 16 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Multi image pdfs

How how do i put pdfs in a multiple image template (see User:Olliechick/Multi image pdf test )? I can do it but don't know how to change what page shows for each image (ie I want page 4 of the pdf File:NCEA example paper.pdf to show for the second image).

Use the syntax [[File:NCEA example paper.pdf|page=4]] standalone, or NCEA example paper.pdf{{!}}page=4 inside templates. I made the necessary change to User:Olliechick/Multi image pdf test for you; you can see exactly how it's done there. Jackmcbarn (talk) 14:56, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Clarkville Peace Hall.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Clarkville Peace Hall.jpg.

Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 23:38, 27 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Rangiora High School A and M block.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Rangiora High School A and M block.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 23:41, 27 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
