Centralway is an internationally operating company builder with its headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.
History
Centralway was founded by Martin Saidler in 1999.
In the early 2000s, Martin Saidler was involved[clarification needed] with Centralway in building Scout24 Group[1] into a multibillion dollar company.
Centralway has thereafter built one of the largest internet groups in Central Eastern Europe (CEE) with over 30 million users.[2]
Over the last decade, Centralway has invested in over 200 companies, focusing on a variety of online business models including classified portals, shipping portals, website builders, Angel investor networks, travel portals, B2B price comparison websites and video portals.
In 2010 Centralway exited most of its investments in CEE and increased its presence in Switzerland. In 2011, Centralway acquired the web agency Netvision with its subsidiary Netvision Cloud. The vision was to create the first company builder for the financial sector. After a major restructuring and rebranding[3] in early 2012, Netvision and Netvision Cloud were turned into Centralway Factory and Centralway Cloud.
Shortly thereafter, Centralway acquired SwissLaunch,[4] a Swiss early stage investment company, and turned it into Centralway Seed, Centralway’s investment arm.
In 2013 the Centralway Cloud, the Centralway Seed and the Centralway Factory were merged into one company.
Investments and Exits
Since 1999, Centralway has invested in over 200 companies in 20 countries and generated an exit volume of over CHF 500 million.
Centralway invested in Scout24, BrainsToVentures,[5] Sandbox Network,[6] INVIA, H1.cz, Anima Publishers, Proseller AG</ref>,[7] Hypermedia, Jyxo,[8] Preisinsel.ch,[9] Blog.cz, Auto.cz, Autovia, C-Crowd[10] and many others.
Structure and Function
The Company Builder is an operational unit within Centralway Group and consists of over 100 experts, people with significant experience in areas including software engineering, interaction design, SEO, SEM, HR, marketing, sales or finance.[citation needed] Centralway also institutionalized all processes and shared services (including accounting, finance and HR) needed to successfully build and scale online ventures.
Centralway is active in private equity transactions, acquiring controlling stakes in traditional companies and transforming them into thriving online companies. For this purpose, the Company Builder works exclusively with our portfolio companies.
